Description

The Mercury Park Lane was a full size automobile produced by the Mercury division of the Ford Motor Company from 1958 to 1960 and by the Lincoln-Mercury Division from 1964 to 1968. During this time, the Park Lane resembled the Monterey, but with a higher trim level. The Park Lane was introduced in 1958 and was applied to Mercury's premium automobile line. For the 1959 and 1960 model years the Park Lane's wheelbase was increased to 128 inches, two inches longer than the rest of the Mercury line. In 1960, the Park Lane name was dropped for the coming 1961 model year as Mercury focused its production efforts on the lower-end Monterey and Meteor 800 models. The name was reinstated in 1964 as Mercury again attempted to retrench its models in the price gap between Ford and Lincoln. Park Lanes were available with the Marauder package (as were all full-size '64 Mercury's) which featured the "slant back" roof designs used on the popular full-size Ford line. The Mercury you see here is a very rare and special car. With less then 30,000 miles from new, it comes finished in the original colors of Pacific Blue with a Silver interior. The car is striking to look at. What's even more striking is what's under the hood. The car is powered by the 300+ horsepower, 390 Cu In V8 with 4bbl carb and 4 speed manual transmission! This sedan is full of tire smoking fun and is the ultimate sleeper. The paint on the car is in great condition with no major imperfections. The same goes for the bumpers and trim. All of which have a great shine and luster with minimal pitting. This Park Lane does have the famous rear vent window that does roll up and down with just a flick of the switch. The body is very solid and straight with no rot that we have seen. Inside, the silver/blue interior looks great with very minimal wear. The interior looks to be all original with no restoration ever performed. Carpet, headliner, dash, door panels and seats all look nearly new. All gauges are in good working order as well as the lights, blinkers, wipers and power rear window. Under the hood, the 390 Cu In V8 with 4bbl car is extremely clean and finished as it came from the factory. The motor fires up as fast as a 30,000 mile car should and runs down the road with tons of power and torque. Connected to the 4 speed manual transmission, this is one tire smoking sedan! The underside of the car is very solid with no rot that we have seen. In the trunk, you will find the original matting as well as a spare and jack. This is an incredible car that is being sold on a clean Pennsylvania title showing that it has been in the state since new and purchased on 1/16/1964. It also shows the mileage to be original and currently showing 29,594. VIN number is 4Z62Z521901.
