1973 saw some significant new changes to the Firebird, including a new eggcrate grille and a revised front bumper. Engine ratings were down again, with the 350 rated at a mere 150 bhp and the 400 at 250 bhp. There was also the introduction of a new Firebird decal on the Trans Am, which covered almost the entire hood and was quickly nick-named "the screaming chicken," which added to the excitement and popularity of the entire Firebird lineup. There has been an aftermarket B&M shifter installed along with an upgraded steering wheel.Under the hood, the strong running, mildly built 455 runs great and is very good for cruises. The motor is said to be a correct 1973 Pontiac 455 with a mild cam, Edelbrock performer intake, MSD ignition, Holley 800 double pumper, 6X heads, high output oil pump, and fuel pump. The motor sounds great coming into the headers connected to the large aluminized exhaust with H pipe and high flow mufflers. This is an A/C car that does have new components which helps it blow ice cold. The trans mission is a 400 turbo trans with shift kit and trans fluid cooler. Other add on's include an aluminum radiator and bolt on frame connectors. These frame connectors are not there to hold the body together due to rusted floors like you commonly see. The floors are solid with no rot that we have seen. The suspension has all new bushings, new springs and shocks to make the ride better then new. The brakes and fuel lines are also new under the car. The Rally II wheels are in good condition and are wrapped with newer BF-Goodrich tires that have good tread life left on them. The trunk is solid and includes correct matting.
