Description

Cadillac's were restyled and re-engineered for 1961. The new grille slanted back towards both the bumper and the hood lip along the horizontal plane and sat between quad headlamps. New forward slanting front roof pillars with non-wraparound windshield glass was seen. The revised rear window treatment had crisp, angular lines with thin pillars on some models and heavier, semi-blind-quarter roof posts on others. 1962 was the 60th anniversary year for Cadillac. The automaker produced 160,840 Cadillac's during the year, all equipped with the new dual-safety braking system and 59 percent sold with air conditioning. With GM settling into a styling groove, Cadillac's '62s were basically toned-down '61s. Highlights included still-lower fins, front-fender cornering lights as a new option, a somewhat tamer grille, and backup/turn/stop lights combined behind a single white lens. Four-window sedans received more orthodox rooflines but still included a pair of short-deck variants, which were now named Series 62 Town Sedan and DeVille Park Avenue. A new braking system with dual master cylinder and separate front and rear hydraulic lines appeared, a portent of the future. This particular car is an original west coast car coming from the state of Oregon a few years ago. This is a highly optioned car, as you can see by the data plate, which comes with all the power options as well as A/C, Autronic Eye, power locks, windows and 6-way seat. The paint is in very good overall condition and has been resprayed sometime in the past. It appears that the car has gone through an older cosmetic restoration. There are some spots of touchup on the body but nothing major and solid overall. Both front and rear bumpers are in very good condition with only some very minor pitting and scratches showing. They appear to be original for the car. The rest of the trim going around the car looks great with no major dents or dings, just some pitting. Inside, the interior is finished in its original color combination of black and white and looks great. All the power functions work including the seat and windows. The seats and carpet do show some very minor fading but overall is solid with no major rips or tears and looks very good. The steering wheel is solid with no major cracks and looks great as well as the dash which shows no buckling or tears. Under the hood, the engine is extremely clean and original. No major aftermarket components appear to have ever been installed with the exception of new wires. The car starts and runs with no problems and goes down the road with no problems. The white wall radial tires are all new and in great condition and are wrapped around original Cadillac wheels and hubcaps which look great. The underside of the car is very solid and shows that no rot that we have seen. In the trunk, you will find a full size spare as well as a jack. VIN number is 62J124912 and the current mileage shows 10,095. The car is being sold on a clean Illinois title showing that the previous owner has had the car since 2002.
