Description

The Mercedes-Benz 380 SL R107 was produced from 1980 through 1986. Under the bonnet lurked an all-aluminum 3.8-liter V8 engine that produced over 150 horsepower. It engine was mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox and power was sent to the rear wheels. The 380SL was a two-seater coupe that cost nearly $39,000 in 1981. Also in the 380 Series at this time were the 380SEL which was a four-door sedan with seating for five. The 380SLC was a two-door coupe with seating for four and cost $46,640. By 1984, only two models were being offered, the SL and SE. The cost of the SL was $43,820 while the SE four-door sedan cost $42,730. The SE version was very similar to the 300SD, distinguishable by its powerplants. The 300SD had a turbocharged diesel engine while the SE had a gasoline fueled V8. Standard equipment on the SE included anti-theft alarm and power seats, with a driver's airbag being offered for an additional cost. This particular '84 380SL is an incredible, low mileage example that comes loaded with options. With only 55,000 original miles, the car has been pampered its entire life. Bought new in Miami Florida, the car stayed in Florida until November of 2006 when it went to Brunswick Georgia where it stayed until earlier this year. We have a clean Autocheck in hand that shows the cars history and ownership. No accidents, no rollbacks, no stories. The black paint on the outside of the car is in great condition and shows extremely well. The near flawless paint appears to be original for the car. The hard top is equally as nice as well as the soft top which appears to be brand new. Both front and rear bumpers are in great condition with no damage showing to either. Inside, the leather seats are nearly perfect with no rips or tears. The car has the seldom seen, back seat with center console. All of the wood is in great condition with no cracking or blemishes that we have found. The same goes for the steering wheel, door panels, arm rest and carpet. The car retains the original AM/FM radio, which is rare to see, that works with no problems along with the gauges, power windows and A/C which blows cold. We have a binder full of receipts and records for the car that include a full rebuild of the A/C system, new valve cover gaskets, new tie rod assemble, new vacuum lines, new center drag linkage, new power steering gearbox, new steering couple, transmission shift rod bushings replaced and a new catalytic convertor. Along with the car, the new owner will be getting a car cover, the original first aid kit and all books, records and manuals. Under the hood, the aluminum 3.8 liter V8 runs great. Once warmed up, the car is a joy to drive and handles great. The engine compartment is extremely clean with no damage showing. Turn the key and the car starts right up with no issues. The mileage currently shows 55,429 miles and is original for the car. The car is being sold on a clean Tennessee title.
