The Oldsmobile 88 was a full-size car sold by the Oldsmobile division of General Motors and produced from 1949 until 1999. From 1950 to 1974 the 88 was the division's top-selling line, particularly the entry-level models such as the 88 and Dynamic 88. The Delta name appeared for the first time in 1965 as an upscale trim line of the Dynamic 88, the Dynamic 88 Delta, replacing the previous top-series B-body Olds, the Super 88. Early '65s were referred to as Dynamic 88 Deltas, but within a few weeks after the start of the model year, Olds began marketing the line as a separate series known as the Delta 88. All 1965 Olds models featured all new styling and engineering. Also introduced this year was a new 425 cubic-inch Super Rocket V8 with horsepower ratings ranging from 300 to 370 depending on carburetor and compression ratio. The new three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission with torque converter replaced the original Hydra-Matic transmission used by Olds since its 1940 introduction. This particular '65 Oldsmobile 88 Celebrity Sedan is a 96,366 original mile car that has only had two owners its entire life! The second owner has had this car since January 1971. Finished in its original colors of Ocean Mist with Turquoise vinyl interior, the car appears to be all original with no repaints, upholstery work or restoration work ever being done to it. This is a nicely optioned car that comes with A/C that still blows. The original paint is still in great condition despite the age but is not perfect. There have been a few spots of touchup to the body. Both front and rear bumpers look great and have only minor pitting showing. No major dents or imperfections to either. The seats are original for the car and in good overall condition but do have some spots of repair showing. The dashboard and steering wheel are equally as nice, showing no major cracking or fading as well as the carpet. All of the instruments in the dash work as they should as well as all lights, blinkers, horn, and wipers. Under the hood, the high compression 425 Cu In V8 runs great and starts up with a turn of the key. The motor is very original with no aftermarket products that we can see. This car is equipped with power steering, power brakes, and AC! In the trunk, you will find the original spare as well as a jack. The trunk is very solid and still retains the original matting.
