Description

By 1971 the Ford Mustang had grown 8 inches longer and 6 inches wider then the original 1965 model. The Mustang was now a full fledge muscle car moving beyond the 2+2 market niche it created. Engine choices ranged from six cylinder economy to the mighty 429 Super Cobra Jet V8. Starting in 1973 though, many forces were converging to signal a change from the fast and furious start of the 2 + 2. Soaring gas and insurance costs and the addition of emissions and safety equipment brought the muscle car era to an end and Ford began positioning the Mustang as more of a luxury car. The end of 1973 would begin a hiatus for both the V8 engine and the convertible. This low mileage 2 owner 1973 Ford Mustang Convertible has both. A healthy 302 V8 under the hood with a power convertible top is everything you need in this great looking Mustang. With the paperwork we received with the car, it appears that this is a true, 68,086 original mile car. On March 28, 1973 this car was originally purchased by a Doctor in Petersburg Indiana where he always kept the car garaged. His family owned the car up until 2006 when the previous owner purchased the car from his estate. We have copies of the previous titles as well as the Doctor's death certificate. The car's paint job consists of the original color of Medium Green Metallic with green top that looks wonderful. The paint is in very good condition with very little to no blemishes, there are a few minor spots of touch up which are expected from a car that could be driven daily. The convertible top shows no rips or tears and shows no staining. The rear window is glass. The rear bumper looks to be original and shows no major blemishes or pitting to the chrome, it retains a fantastic shine and luster. The interior of the car is finished in the original shade of Avocado which looks great. Both front bucket seats look great with no major wear to be found. The same goes for the dash, door panels and carpet which are all in very good condition with only very minor wear showing. The factory gauges on the car remain in place and all function properly along with all lights, blinkers, wipers and horn. The car does have A/C which does blow, just not ice cold. The car is powered by a 302 c.i. V8 under the hood that runs like a low mileage car should. The engine performs well with just a turn of the key. On the road the car has plenty of power and drives straight as an arrow. The 302 is connected to a C4 automatic transmission that shifts with no problems. Everything about the car screams originality. The wheel covers are all the correct Mustang hubcaps and are wrapped with older Michelin radial tires that have good tread life left on them. The VIN# is 3F03F201076 and the odometer reads 68,086. The car is being sold on a clean Indiana title showing that the second owner has had the car since 2006.
