Many consider the 1949 through 1951 Mercury's as some of the best looking and driving cars of all time. For this reason, they are the some of the most popular cars on the market today for customizing, chopping, lowering and hot rodding. This particular '51 Mercury Coupe was made right here in St. Louis Missouri and comes finished in its original color combination of Everglade Green with green interior. It has remained with the same owner for the last 20 years who resisted the temptation to customize the car and left it in its original state. The car has gone through an older restoration but retained the original colors and style. No chopping or customizing was done to the car which is rare to find. The paint on the car is in great condition with no major imperfections. We have recently had the car buffed and it brought out a great shine and luster. All of the stainless trim and bright work around the car is in very good condition with no damage. The same goes for the front and rear bumpers and front grill. All of the glass is in good condition with no cracking or damage. Inside, the seats are covered in the original style material and look great. There are no tears or major spots of wear to be found. The carpet is newer as well as the door panels and headliner which are all in very good condition. There has been a later model AM radio installed which turns on but emits static. All of the gauges, lights, blinkers and horn work as they should as well as the vacuum wipers. Under the hood, the flat head 8 cylinder runs great and fires up with a turn of the key. The motor is very clean and is finished in the original form with the exception of some updated wiring. There has been an aftermarket electric fuel pump installed to improve reliability as well as an 8 volt battery. In the trunk you will find a full size spare and no signs of rot. The trunk is very solid and has been painted to match the exterior of the car. The underside is also very solid with no rot that we have found. There is a light coat of undercoating that has been applied to the car to prevent any rust in the future. This is a great driving Mercury that has never been chopped, channeled or customized in any way. These are getting increasingly hard to find in this stock, original condition.
