1960 Nash Metropolitan ConvertibleVIN: E65365--Last series of Metropolitans--Restored paint and upholstery--Original engine, engine bay, dashboard and gauges--1.5 L inline four-cylinder Austin B-Series engine--Believed to be 32,351 miles--Correct diamond pattern cloth with white vinyl trimAs Nash and Hudson had already merged to form American Motor Company in 1954, Nash's Metropolitan model was nearing the end of its days in the early 1960s. Soon, the Ramblers would be AMC's marquee, but for a few more years, the Metropolitans would be rolling off the assembly lines in England ready for the American roads.MotoeXotica Classic Cars presents this 1960 Nash Metropolitan Convertible now in our showroom. This convertible is from the last series of Metropolitans which lasted from 1959-1961. Other than a slight restoration, this is a highly original vehicle.January 1959 saw the beginning of Metropolitan Series IV production. This major re-design saw the addition of an external decklid and vent windows. By this time, the engine had been upgraded by increasing the compression ratio from 7.2:1 to 8.3:1 giving an output of 55 bhp. The additional features added 15 pounds to the weight. The interior now used a diamond pattern for the seats with white vinyl trim. Sales rose to 22,209 units in 1959-the Metropolitan's best-selling year - promoting it to second place behind Volkswagen in sales of cars imported to the U.S.This is a handsome Metropolitan that has what is believed to be only 32,351 actual miles. The previous owner purchased the car from the widow of the original owner. If this car was driven starting its first year, that is only 610 miles a year! Under the hood, the engine bay appears original, and the correct Austin B-Series inline four-cylinder engine powers this fun subcompact car. The underbody of this car is extremely solid along with the rockers, floors and trunk. The original dashboard and gauges will transport you back to 1960, and the original gauges are all functioning, making this car great for a night on the town or for any collection looking for an early '60s automobile. The seats have been reupholstered in the correct diamond patterned cloth with white vinyl trim. This combination of restoration and originality sets this Nash apart from its competition. The black cloth convertible top is in great condition. The exterior has had a quality repaint in the correct Mardi-Gras Red (code 913) and Frost White (914). This two-tone body will shine wonderfully in the afternoon sun on a Sunday drive. The lights and signals are functioning, and the tires are whitewalled with the correct Metropolitan hubcaps. The original emblems and brightwork show typical wear for a 53-year old vehicle. This Metropolitan is ready for its next owner to take the top down on the open road. These Metropolitans are becoming increasingly popular with the micro car crowd and are on a steady price increase. VIN is E65365, and it is being sold on a clear Nebraska title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!
