Description

Studebaker was proud to be "First by Far With a Postwar Car," but after three years on the market, its vehicles very much needed a distinctive new look for their carried-over bodies. In fact, the 1950-1951 Studebaker origins were as a counterpoint to the post-war car, when celebrated styling consultant Raymond Loewy decided his staff should look to the heavens for inspiration. Perhaps no automaker is more identified with a single design than Studebaker with its 1950-1951 "bullet-nose" cars. Ads called it "The Next Look," implying it would start a trend. It didn't, but that mattered little to company executives, who were content to chalk up sales unmatched in Studebaker's previous 48 years of auto production and in any of the next 16.This 1951 Studebaker Champion two door deluxe sedan is a very original car that is currently showing only 50,000 miles. The car is said to be finished in its original color of Maui Blue and still retains almost all of the original interior. The paint on the car is in very good condition and has been resprayed in the past. The body is very solid with no bubbling or rot that we have seen. The front and rear bumpers are in good condition and appear to be original for the car. The same goes for the trim and stainless going around the car. Inside, the interior appears almost all original. The drivers side seat back has been reupholstered with a similar fabric that the rest of the seats are finished in. The door panels and headliner are equally as nice with no major wear. Just typical age showing. The dash looks great with no major fading to the gauges which all work like they should. Lights, blinkers and horn all work as well as the wipers. Under the hood, the six cylinder runs very good. Turn the key and press down on the starter button and the car starts with no issues. On the road the car drives straight and brakes with no pull to either side. The engine is very clean and shows no major aftermarket accessories being added. The engine compartment shows no damage and is nicely detailed. The underside of the car is incredibly solid and has no undercoating showing. It's rare that you find a car of this age with no undercoating, much less no rot. The same goes for the trunk which is solid and includes a full size spare which appears to be original for the car as well as a jack. The current mileage shows 50,096 which is believed to be original for the car but we have no documentation to back this up. VIN number is G1043692 and the car is being sold on a clean Nebraska title showing that the previous owner has had the car since 1997.
