The Buick Super is a full sized automobile produced from 1940-1942, and from 1946-1958; it was on Buick's longer wheelbase shared with the Roadmaster. It and the Roadmaster were replaced by the new Electra in 1959. The 1950 Supers Came with one two barrel carb to power their 263 C. Inch straight 8. This setup produced an HP rating of 112. The Car is relatively quick able to achieve speeds over 90 miles per hour. This particular 48 Buick Super Convertible has gone through an older restoration that has been preserved nicely with age. The paint is thin in a few places as you can see in the photos but the car is very solid and straight. We've found no bubbling or rot to the body. All door shut as they should with little effort and with equal gaps all around. The front and rear bumpers are both in good overall condition and have been rechromed when the car was restored. They do show some minor blemishes. The power soft top was also replaced and looks great. It goes up and down with no issues and with a flick of a switch. Inside, the tan vinyl interior looks great. The seats, carpet and door panels are all covered in tan vinyl and show no wear. The dash has been painted to match the exterior of the car and looks excellent. All lights, blinkers and wipers work with no problems. The AM radio is currently inoperable. Under the hood, the 263 Cu In inline eight cylinder runs great and very smooth. These inline 8's are known for there smooth running and great power. The 8 cylinder is connected to the smooth shifter 3 speed manual transmission. The clutch performs as it should and is strong. No chattering or slipping of the clutch that we have found. Under the hood, the engine is nicely detailed and free of any damage or rot. The underside of the car is solid with no rot that we have seen. The original style Buick wheels with beauty rings and Buick hubcaps look great and are wrapped with newer bias ply tires that show no major wear or dry rotting. The current mileage shows 5,413 and the VIN number is 14866539. The car is being sold on a clean Illinois title.
