Description

The 1960 Corvair 500 and 700 series four-door sedans were conceived as economy cars offering few amenities in order to keep the price competitive, with the 500 (base model) selling for under $2,000. Powered by an 80 hp (60 kW) engine and three-speed manual or two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission, the Corvair was designed to have comparable acceleration to the six-cylinder full-size Chevrolet Biscayne. Introduced in January 1960, two-door models have a fold-down rear seat for added storage capacity, which was greatly needed as the spare tire was stowed in the forward trunk compartment. Different from any American cars before or since, the unique Corvair has become most notable for its flaws. The car had its merits as well, but the more agreeable facets of the Corvair have been largely disregarded by the public and held onto only by an adoring group of fans enamored with the vehicle. This particular '63 Corvair Monza 900 comes finished in its original color combination of Ermine White with Black vinyl interior. The car is in great condition with no major imperfections. The car has been resprayed sometime in the past and still retains a very good shine and luster. The front and rear bumpers are both in great condition and appear to be original for the car and in great condition. The body is very solid with no bubbling or rot that we have found. Inside, the seats have been recovered in the original color of black vinyl and look great. The carpet and headliner are both equally as nice with no major wear showing. The dash is solid with no cracking or bucking. All gauges are in good working order as well as the lights, blinkers, horn and wipers. Included with the purchase is the original '63 owners guide. The dual carb flat 6 cylinder runs great. Turn the key and she fires right up. The car drives great on the road and gets great gas mileage. I wouldn't hesitate driving this car anywhere. The engine compartment is very clean and shows no damage. The same goes for the front trunk which is nearly spotless with a full size bias ply spare and jack. The underside of the car is very solid with no rot that we have found. The underside has been undercoated a number of years ago to prevent any rust in the future. This is a great driving Corvair Monza 900 that has years of fun and enjoyment in it for the next owner. The current mileage shows 27,558 and the VIN number is 30969W155922. The car is being sold on a clean Arkansas title.
