Description

The Model T Ford was introduced in October of 1908 and remained in production for the next 19 years. In total, more than 15 million examples were produced thanks, in part, to the low cost and mass-production methods of the assembly line. In early 1912, Ford changed the appearance of the Model T. The touring cars were now supplied with removable front 'fore doors' and had a smoother body. The bodies were built of wood with a sheet metal overlay and were still finished in dark blue as they were in 1911. The 1912 Model T Fords were offered in six different body styles, including a touring car, torpedo roadster, runabout, town car, and a delivery van.Mechanically, the 1912 Model T's remained basically the same as the 1911 models. All Model T Fords were built on a chassis with a 100 inch wheelbase and were supplied with 30x3 inch tires in the front and 30x3.5 tires in the rear. The Model T's built prior to 1919 were supplied with non-demountable wheels. This meant that if a flat tire occurred, the tire had to be removed from the rim and a new tube installed. This particular 1912 Model T Depot Hack went through a restoration in 2010 where the wood was refinished and the mechanicals were repaired as necessary. The steel fenders were also repainted along with the hood assembly. All of the wood is in great condition with no cracking or rot. The brass is equally as nice with no damage or staining. This T is loaded with options like dual lanterns, brake light, side mirror and speedometer. The steering wheel is solid with no cracking as well as the seats and floors. Speedometer and amp gauge work as well as the horn. Under the drivers seat you will find the original style fuel tank and gas shut off. There has been an aftermarket carb and fuel pump added to give the car more reliability. The truck also has the optional two speed rear end. With this engaged, you can reach speeds of around 40mph comfortably. There are few Model T's that I've ever felt comfortable at this speed but this is actually one of them. It's a great driving little truck. The little 4 cylinder under the hood runs great. With a push of the electric starter button, the motor fires right up. With the addition of the new carb, there has also been an aftermarket water pump installed to keep the motor cool. The motor has also been converted off of the magneto system to a coil and distributor. The last owner of this Model T had the car in parades and car cruises regularly. All of the upgrades done to the drivetrain were to improve reliability. The wire wheels are all in great condition and have been painted to match the hood. They are wrapped with newer bias ply tires that have good tread life left on them and show no cracking or dry rot. The current mileage shows 1,787 miles and the VIN number is 14000723. The truck is being sold on a clean California title.
