Description

1969 Chevelles were billed as "America's most popular mid-size car." They showed only minor changes for 1969, led by revised front-end styling. A single chrome bar connected quad headlights, and a slotted bumper held the parking lights. Taillight lenses were larger and more vertical, flowing into the quarter panels. Front vent windows began to fade away now that Astro Ventilation was sending outside air into several Chevelle models. The Chevelle lineup slimmed down to two series: 300 Deluxe and Malibu. No longer a series of its own, the SS 396 turned into a $347.60 option package for any two-door model. The Super Sport included a 325-horsepower 396-cubic-inch V-8 beneath a double-domed hood, along with a black-out grille displaying an SS emblem and a black rear panel. More potent editions of the 396 engine also made the options list, developing 350 or 375 horsepower. This particular 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 has gone through a complete restoration and comes with its original 396 Cu In big block and 4 speed manual transmission. The majority of the restoration was done to the car in 2003 - 2007. We have receipts documenting nearly $14,000 in parts and labor. These receipts don't included paint and body work. Finished in the DuPont color of "Mood Blue", the car is striking with its black vinyl top and white stripes. The body is very solid and straight with all doors shutting as they should with uniformed gaps. The black vinyl top is perfect with no bubbling or imperfections. Bumpers are both new and in great condition with no damage or pitting. Inside, the original style black interior looks great with no imperfections to be found. The interior is almost all new and from National Parts Depot. The car was originally ordered with the optional gauge cluster. Additional gauges for oil pressure and temperature have been added under the dash. We have found nothing that does not work on the car. Lights, gauges, wipers, even the turn signals cancel when the wheel is turned. This is a car that you can drive across town or across country. Under the hood, the car is equipped with a correct date coded 396 Cu In V8 connected to the original M21 4 speed manual transmission. This is an early block with only a two letter suffix of JC. The transmission tag reads 3946797 with the partial VIN number of 19K441905. Date code is P9D07A. Please email us for a complete breakdown of all of the numbers and codes on the car. We have receipts for the motor being rebuilt on 10/24/03 as well as the transmission being overhauled. The engine compartment is very clean and shows no signs of damage. The underside of the car is solid with no rot that we have seen. The same goes for the trunk which includes a full size spare and jack. The VIN number is 136379K441905 and the mileage currently shows 72,325 which is believed to be correct and original. The car is being sold on a clean Missouri title.
