Description

The 1960 model year was an impressive beginning to a new decade. During the Sixties, Cadillac styling became more graceful and restrained as Bill Mitchell gradually unified the design. Few new engineering advances were introduced, but orderly design development and a conservative styling approach set Cadillac apart from other luxury makes and maintained its reputation as "The Standard of the World." To the American public, Cadillac remained a symbol of prestige, success, and good taste. The 1960 Cadillac began the evolutionary process of toning down the excesses of 1959. Although it continued the jet plane styling theme of the '59, its fins were clipped (but still prominent) and Ed Taylor redesigned the taillights into a thin strip of red plastic neatly blended into the end of the fin. Supplementing that was a second taillight in each "exhaust port," now a vertical oval that still housed the backup light as well. the simplified grille lost its horizontal divider bar and the front bumper was also simpler and less bulky. New, too, was the instrument panel. All in all, the '60 Caddy had a more formal, yet youthful, look. With only 9,984 units produced, the 4 door, 4 window "flat top" Series 62 was by far the rarest of the Series 62's that were sold here in the United States. This particular car is very special since it currently shows only 31,000 original miles. Originally purchased by Mrs. George Faulk of Fort Smith Arkansas, the car was rarely driven. When it was driven, it was by her driver. The car was mainly used to go back and forth to church in. We have signed documentation from the previous two owners stating the mileage is correct. The paint on the car is in great condition with no major imperfections. The car has been repainted in its original color of Arroyo Turquoise in the last few years and looks great. The bumpers and trim are all original for the car and all have a great shine with no damage. The car is very solid with no bubbling or rot to be found. Inside, the car still retains its original Turquoise interior which is in near perfect condition. The seats are all in great condition with no signs of wear. The same goes for the carpet, dash, headliner and door panels. The steering wheel shows no cracking and is original for the car. Options include power locks, A/C, power steering, power brakes, AM radio, power antenna and tinted glass. Under the hood, the 390 Cu In V8 runs great like a 31,000 mile car should. The engine compartment is very clean and original with no modifications or damage that we have found. With a turn of the key the car starts with no pumping of the gas or smoking. On the road, the car performs exactly as you would expect from a 31,000 mile car. Very smooth with tons of power. The underside of the car is solid with no rot that we have seen. All four tires are in good condition as are the Cadillac wheel covers. The trunk is solid with the original matting. It includes a full size spare and jack. The spare is a newer radial. VIN number is 60A014660 and the current mileage shows 31,531.
