Description

The date was April 25, 1925 and on that date the Ford Motor Company introduced their first factory produced pickup truck. This new model was officially called the Ford Model T Runabout with Pickup Body. And Ford priced this new truck at $281.00 F.O.B. Detroit. In basic terms this new Ford was a roadster type pickup with an all steel bed that was 56 inches long, 40 inches wide, and 13 inches high. The sides of the bed had pockets for stakes and the tailgate was adjustable. If you wanted, or needed, a longer heavier duty pickup truck you could opt for a Model TT (1 ton rated) Ford truck with an 8 foot long Express Body. This 1927 Ford Model T roadster pickup truck is a rare Model T that is seldom seen. Finished in yellow with black fenders and top, the truck has recently received a new wood bed which looks great. This truck has been in a large collection in Northern California for the last 10 years. Unlike most collections, the collector drove his cars regularly. Whether it was around his property or parades the car found regular use. The price of the Model T Ford Runabout with Pickup Body in 1926 jumped to $366.00. This higher priced pickup included additional equipment that was either optional or not available on the 1925 model. Additional equipment now included an electric starter, battery, and demountable tires. And if you wanted balloon tires they were available too at a cost of $15.00.All the wood in the bed looks great and shows no signs of rot. The steel fenders are in very good condition with some dings and scratches but overall they look great. The paint on the truck is in overall good condition and it is presentable. The black soft top looks great and has no rips or tears. The black bench seat looks great. It is in very good shape with no rips or tears. The painted metal dash and door panels are all in great shape. The vinyl top is in good condition. The light switch is working with no problems and turns on all lights in the front and rear. All of the wiring in the truck is new as well as the battery and starter. The inline 4 cylinder motor runs great. This is an electric start truck and is on a 6 volt system. The brakes work well and the transmission performs as it should. The steel wheels are in great condition and are wrapped with 6 ply tires that are in good overall condition with some dry rot and cracking. The VIN number is 13545036.
