Description

There's no doubt that 1966 is one of the most popular Ford Mustang model years in the history of the car. In fact, March 1966 marked the creation of the millionth Mustang. Although the first few years were definitely good for Ford and its sporty Mustang, 1966 was the year all that hard work truly began to pay off. By 1966, most people began to associate the Ford Mustang with power and performance. It was the car to have if you needed a daily driver and it was the car to have if you needed a weekend cruiser with a sporty edge. In all, there were minimal changes to the Mustang in 1966. Production began in August of 1965 and featured a line up of: Coupe, Convertible, and Fastback. In all, Ford produced 607,568 total Mustangs in 1966. The car sported additional new colors, a redesigned grille, new instrument cluster, and new styled wheels. An automatic transmission became available for the "Hi-Po" V-8. Side scoops featured chrome trim with three wind-splits, and GT models received a new gas cap and driving lamps as standard equipment. This particular '66 Mustang is an extremely well documented six cylinder car that is finished in its original colors of Silver Blue with a light blue, bucket seat interior. We have documentation dating back from 2001 showing everything that was ever done to the car. The owner shows that they purchased the car on July 6, 2001 and immediately replaced the radiator hoses, installed seat belts, new heater core, hoses, exhaust manifold, charged the A/C, installed new plugs and wires as well as installing new carpet. In 2002 the rear valance was replaced along with the disc brakes in the front and tires all around. The next owner purchased the car in November, 2004 when the mileage showed 27,752. Over the next few years we have records of every trip the car went on, whether it was the 14.7 miles to town and Wal Mart or 12.5 miles to the gym or 13 miles to Fred's and around the lake. The paint on the car is in very good condition and is finished in the original color of Silver Blue. This is a very solid car that shows no bubbling or rot to the body. We have gone around the car with a magnet and found no signs of bodywork or filler with the exception of a very small bit at the bottom of the doors which is not uncommon. Both front and rear bumpers are in great condition with only some very minor dings and scratches. Both retain a great shine. Inside, the seats have been reupholstered and the carpet is new in 2004. The vinyl is a bit loose around the door panels as you can see in the photos. The seats and carpet both look great with no major wear to be found. The dash does have some minor buckling. All gauges are in good working order as are the lights, blinkers, wipers and updated AM/FM stereo. This is an A/C car with a cold air box under the dash that works with no problems. Under the hood, the 6 cylinder runs great and very smooth. Turn the key and it fires right up with no hesitation. While not having the power as the big V8's, the car does save you in gas which is so important right now. The motor has been nicely detailed and looks great. The underside of the car is very solid with no rot that we have seen. The car does have new stainless exhaust as well as new brakes and wheel cylinders all around that were installed less then 5,000 miles ago. The mileage currently shows 34,152 and is not known to be original. VIN number is 6F07T227997. The car is being sold on a clean Arkansas title.
