Description

Horsepower was the word for the 1956 Buicks, as it was with many of its competitors. The 1956 Buicks were the most powerful yet. With engines producing either 225 horsepower (Special) or the other models 255 horsepower, every Buick in the 1956 lineup could exceed 100 mph. The Century showed 0 to 60 in 10 seconds with a top speed of 110 mph. Styling changes were limited to a re-designed grille: the bumper guard bullets now resemble jet engine intakes and a new V-shaped grille was used. All models featured the sporty rear wheel cutouts similar to the '55 Special and Riviera. This particular '56 Buick Special two door sedan is finished in its original color combination of Bedford Blue with Cambridge Blue top that looks great and really stands out from the crowd. Inside, the interior retains its original look and fabric and is finished in the original colors of Blue/Blue. The car did go through a body on restoration a number of years ago that included new paint as well as a new interior. The family we purchased the car from has had it since 1984 right here in St. Louis Missouri! Outside, the paint on the car is in very good condition overall and only shows some minor scratches and dings. While not perfect, it still retains a very good shine. The front and rear chrome bumpers both look great with no major pitting or scratches showing to either. They both retain a brilliant luster and shine. The same goes for the rest of the trim and bright work. The body is very solid and shows no bubbling or rot that we have found. Inside, the interior is all new with newly upholstered seats, new carpet, door panels and headliner along with a new dash pad. The steering wheel is free of any cracking or splits and the chrome horn piece shows no pitting. All gauges are in good working order along with the lights and blinkers. Glass is free of cracks and chips and looks good all around. Under the hood, the 322 Cu In nail head V8 starts up with a push of the starter and goes down the road with no issues. We just tuned the carb and now this boat glides down the road, getting all the attention it deserves. This is an automatic transmission car which makes it even more of a joy to drive. In the trunk, you will find a full car cover, Buick catalog, jack and original spare tire. The trunk is very solid and lined with the original matting. All 4 wide white bias ply tires are new and look great wrapped around Buick wheels and hubcaps. Currently the mileage shows 109,176 and the VIN number is 4C4002373. The car is being sold on a clean Missouri title.
