Description

The first-generation Camaro debuted in September 1966, for the 1967 model year, up to 1969 on a new rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform and would be available as a 2-door, 2+2 seating, coupe or convertible with a choice of 250 cu in inline-6 and 302 cu in, 307 cu in, 327 cu in, 350 cu in, or 396 cu in V8 powerplants. Concerned with the runaway success of the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet executives realized that their compact sporty car, the Corvair, would not be able to generate the sales volume of the Mustang due to its rear-engine design, as well as declining sales, partly due to the bad publicity from Ralph Nader's book, Unsafe at Any Speed. Therefore, the Camaro was touted as having the same conventional rear-drive, front-engine configuration as Mustang and Chevy II Nova. In addition, the Camaro was designed to fit a variety of power plants in the engine bay. The first-generation Camaro would last until the 1969 model year and would eventually inspire the design of the new retro fifth-generation Camaro. This particular car is a true 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS with correct Marina Blue paint and bright blue interior. With power steering, power brakes and A/C the car needs nothing! This was an early Camaro, being build the second week of February at the Los Angeles plant. Original options on the car included tinted windows, A/C, TH400 transmission, rear seat speaker, remote mirror and deluxe seat belts. The paint on the car is in great condition with no major imperfections to speak of. The white bumble bee stripe on the nose is a great touch and really sets the car off. The body is very solid with no bubbling that we have found. The front and rear chrome bumpers look great with no damage or pitting showing. Inside you will find the deluxe interior finished in the original bright blue color. The bucket seats in front are in near perfect condition with no rips, tears or major wear. The same goes for the rear bench seat. The carpet, dash, headliner, door panels and kick panels all appear to be new. There has been an aftermarket gauge cluster added under the dash from Pro Comp Gauges that include water temperature, oil pressure and volts. All gauges are in good working order as well as the lights, blinkers, horn and wipers. Both headlight doors open and shut as they should. Under the hood, the car comes with a 350 Cu In V8. This is connected to a newer 4 speed automatic transmission. With a turn of the key, the car starts with no problems and runs down the road straight and true. With the updated 4 speed automatic transmission, the car will cruise down the road at normal highway speeds without killing you at the gas pump. With A/C, power steering and power brakes, the car is a joy to drive. The rally wheels look great and are wrapped with The underside is very solid with no rot to be found. The same goes for the trunk which includes a full size spare and jack along with the original style trunk matting. The current mileage shows 5,946 and the VIN Number is 124377L141939.
