Description

After the war, Willys decided to resume civilian production. Many returning serviceman were eager to purchase one as they knew first-hand the vehicles capabilities. A two-door Jeepster, designed by Brooks Stevens, was introduced in 1948 and shared a chassis with the Jeep station wagon. For 1950, there were minimal improvements such as to the front end, a new center-gauge dashboard design, and a wraparound rear bumper. It was offered with either a four or six cylinder engine and optional overdrive. This particular 1950 Jeepster is an original California truck that has gone through an extensive restoration in 2009 to make it better then the day it was new. With over $50,000 invested, this is one of the nicest Jeepsters in existence! There has been a 350 Cu In V8 crate motor from GM installed under the hood to give you the power that this little truck deserves and is connected to a 700R automatic transmission that performs flawlessly. The exterior is finished in a gunmetal gray with a burgundy accent around the top of the truck. The paint is nearly flawless with no major imperfections to be found. With only 2,900 miles, the truck is still like new top to bottom. The soft top is new and looks great. There are side curtains that drop into the holes in the body and snap to seal. All of the chrome and stainless trim around the truck looks great with on pitting or dents. The same goes for the front grill. Inside, the seats are original but have been reupholstered in a gray vinyl with a dark piping that looks great. The carpet is new along with all door panels, gauges steering column and Grant wood wheel. The center gauge cluster is from a 1934 Ford that was inverted. All gauges are from Auto Meter and work with no problems. There has been a Sony AM/FM/CD stereo installed under the dash that sounds great coming from the speakers at your feet. The steering column is from a 70's GM. Under the hood you will find a brand new GM crate motor with less then 3,000 miles. This sits on top of a Mustang II front end and is connected to a 700R4 automatic transmission with a shift kit. The transmission does have a transmission cooler mounted under the passenger side. This all goes back to a 2005 Ford Mustang rear end. There are power disc brakes all around. The underside is extremely solid with no rot that we have found. The truck has a brand new 12 gallon stainless fuel tank installed along with a full Flowmaster exhaust system. On the road, it's obvious that the build was extensive and detail oriented. This Jeepster drives like new and has tons of power. With the 4 speed automatic transmission, cruising down the highway at 70 mph is no problem. The current mileage shows 2,911 and is original since the build. VIN number is 473VJ10143. The truck is being sold on a clean California title.
