Description

The 1947 Ford line was similar to the short 1946. Visual differences included the removal of the red accents from the grill and the two small lights located just above it. Ford began titling 1947s in February 1947. For the first few weeks, the 1947 model was identical to the 1946. Ford then restyled the body slightly first by moving the parking lights from above the grill to below each headlight. Exterior moldings were changed from grooved to a smooth design. A new hood ornament with a blue plastic insert was installed. New hubcap design became available in March. Interior dash color was changed from red accent to gold. By September the roof mounted antenna was moved to the cowl. Horns were moved to in front of the radiator from the engine compartment. The final 1947 models were titled in November. This particular car has gone through a complete custom restoration to make it what you see today. The body is nearly completely stock and all steel but has had all emblems shaved. With the exception to this modification this is an original steel bodied '47 Ford convertible. Riding on a custom air ride suspension on all four corners the car can be dropped so the front bumper is on the ground or raised up for normal driving. The car was built with the purpose of driving and not being a trailer queen. In 2009 the car made two trips of over 4 hours to two different Street Rod National events with no problems. Outside, the burgundy paint looks great and shows no major imperfections, just normal nicks and chips mainly on the front due to driving. All of the stainless on the car has been restored from original and looks great. The same goes for the front and rear bumpers and front grill. The retractable soft top looks very good and secures tightly in the front. There is one button missing in the rear. The plastic rear window is free of any tears or discoloration. Inside, the seats have been reupholstered in a soft tweed that looks great and is in very good condition in the front and rear. The carpet and door panels are both equally as nice along with the inside of the convertible soft top. The dash has been painted to match the exterior of the car and has beautiful chrome accents that show no pitting. All gauges are in good working order and are a mix of original and newer, classic style gauges. The Budnik steering wheel which matches the wheels, is attached to a tilt column. Under the hood the 283 Cu In V8 runs great and is fed with a Holley 4bbl carb. The motor has been painted to match the exterior of the car and has Holley valve covers. This is a power steering and power brake car. The engine bay is nicely detailed with no damage showing. The front clip is from a Camaro. There are A/C brackets but no compressor installed. In the trunk you will find the air compressor for the air suspension which is activated with a switch under the dash. The suspension is controlled with a digital controller with three presets. You can also adjust the psi in each individual air bag. The underside is very solid with no rot that we have found and has a slight coat of undercoating. Currently the car shows 63,498 miles and the VIN number is 43728. The car is being sold on a clean Missouri title.
