Description

Nash Motors was founded in 1916 by former General Motors president Charles W. Nash who acquired the Thomas B. Jeffery Company. Charles Nash then convinced the chief engineer of GM's Oakland Division, Nils Eric Wahlberg, to move to Nash's new company. The first Nash engine introduced in 1917 by Wahlberg had overhead valves and Nash incorporated this principle. Wahlberg is also credited with helping to design flow-through ventilation that is used today in nearly every motor vehicle. Introduced in 1938, Nash's Weather Eye directed fresh, outside air into the car's fan-boosted, filtered ventilation system, where it was warmed (or cooled), and then removed through rearward placed vents. Another unique feature of Nash cars was the unequal wheel tracks. The front wheels were set slightly narrower than the rear, thus adding stability and improving cornering. Wahlberg was also an early proponent of wind tunnel testing for vehicles.Nash's slogan from the late 1920s and 1930s was "Give the customer more than he has paid for" and the cars lived up to it. Innovations included a straight-eight engine with overhead valves, twin spark plugs, and nine crankshaft bearings in 1930. With the success of Nash, it couldn't keep up with the demand. Year after year, the demand was so high that before the cars left the assembly line, they were already sold. This particular car is a 1925 Nash Advanced Six Rumble Seat Roadster Model 166. This is a very solid, original car that has only gone through a mild, cosmetic restoration that included a new soft top, new paint and chrome bumpers. The paint is in very good overall condition and only shows a few scrapes and nicks overall. The body is very straight and solid. This is a rumble seat roadster and the rear seat folds down and fits as it should. The front and rear bumpers both look great and are newer. The removable soft top looks good overall with no rips or tears. It does have side curtains that roll up when not in use. Inside, the seat has been reupholstered a number of years ago and is showing its age with some of the snaps missing. All of the wood in the floors are solid. The steering wheel is solid and all of the gauges appear to be in good working order as well as the lights and horn, which is weak, but does work. On the dash, there is a State Of Iowa registration receipt from 1972! On the window, you will find an Indiana safety sticker from 1965! The rumble seat has been recovered in blue vinyl and looks very good. Under the hood, the six cylinder runs great and is freshly rebuilt although we don't have any receipts for the rebuild. The motor is very clean and shows no damage under the hood. The six cylinder starts right up with a push of the starter button on the floor. We have recently rebuilt the carburetor as well as cleaned out the gas tank and lines. We've had the car on the road and it drives straight with efficient power. The wheels are steel and much safer and longer lasting then the more common wood wheels. The VIN number is 317055 and the current mileage shows just over 52,000 miles. The car is being sold on a clean Arkansas title showing that the previous owner has had the car since 2002.
