Description

The Commander was Studebaker's middle of the line model in 1955, just behind the top of the line President Speedster. The Studebaker Commander was produced for several years, representing several body style changes, and first appeared in the 1920s. The company would continue to use the name until their demise in 1966. There were only a few years where the Commander did not appear in Studebaker's line-up during that time; those were in 1936 and 1959-1963.This particular Commander has been with the same owner for the past 10 years. The owners went though the entire car, updating the front and rear ends, installed a completely new interior and finished the car in a two tone mauve color. The car is powered by a rebuilt 350 Cu In V8 that sits on top of a Camaro front end. This is an A/C car that also has power windows, door poppers, 8 inch Ford rear end and a matching 2 tone interior. The paint on the car looks great and has no major imperfections to speak of. The front and rear bumpers have both been painted to match the rest of the car and look great. No chips or damage to either. The same goes for the grill. All of the window rubber is new and the glass is free of cracks and chips. The body is very solid and both doors shut tight and with little effort. The door handles have been shaved and door poppers have been installed. Inside, the seats have all been recovered to match the exterior of the car and look great. The seats are nearly perfect as is the carpet, door panels and headliner. They have all been finished in a matching tweed / vinyl pattern that looks great. All lights, blinkers and wipers work with no problems as well as the horn. There has been an aftermarket A/C system installed that works with no problems and does blow cold.Under the hood, the 350 Cu In V8 runs great and starts right up with a turn of the key. Fed with a Holley 4 bbl carb, the car has tons of power and drives great. Under the hood you will find Edelbrock valve covers, air cleaner, headers, power steering, power brakes and an updated A/C system that works with no problems. The chrome wheels look great and are wrapped with brand new radials all the way around. The trunk has been nicely carpeted and includes a full size, matching chrome spare. The car currently shows 94,981 miles which is believed to be actual for the car. VIN number is 8385013 and the car is being sold on a clean Missouri title showing that the previous owner has had the car since June of 2000.
