Description

Among collectors, the 1963 Impala is the most popular for its body style, though it was almost mechanically identical to the 1962 model. The 1963 Impala's distinctive body style has crisp lines with pointed front and rear fenders which emphasize the long, low style of car design popular in the early 1960s. The rear taillight panel was aluminum, and was surrounded by a chrome border with the engine-turned surface on SS models. Engine choice was similar to '62, with the small-block 283-cubic-inch and 327-cubic-inch V8s the most popular choices. A new "coved" instrument panel was good-looking, but replaced the temperature gauge with "idiot lights" for hot and cold engine conditions. This particular 1963 Impala SS has gone through a very thorough restoration to make it what you see today. The car is loaded with options that include tilt wheel, power steering, working A/C, bucket seats, automatic floor shift and AM/FM radio. Finished in the most desirable color of red with black interior, the car looks great. The paint on the car looks nearly new and shows no major imperfections to speak of. All of the trim on the car looks new and free of any dings or dents. Both front and rear bumpers look great and appear to have been rechromed during the restoration. Bumper guards are equally as nice along with the grill and all of the glass. Inside, the black interior is nicely finished in SS trim and looks great. The front bucket seats have been reupholstered and look great with no wear to be found to either. The same goes for the rear bench seat. All gauges are in good working condition along with the lights, wipers, horn and blinkers. The dash is solid along with the headliner, carpet and steering wheel. The original radio has been replaced with an aftermarket AM/FM radio that works with no problems. Under the hood, the 327 Cu In small block runs great and is very clean. There are many new parts that include a new fan shroud, headers, Chevrolet valve covers, chrome air cleaner, Edelbrock intake and 4bbl carb. The A/C has been added during the restoration and blows cool, just not ice cold. The car does come with power steering but not power brakes. The motor is nicely detailed and very clean. The underside of the car is very clean with no rot. There has been some undercoating applied to prevent any rust in the future. In the trunk, there is original style matting along with a full size spare and jack. There is no rot to the trunk and is extremely solid. The current mileage shows 94,577 and is believed to be actual for the car. VIN number is 31847S207446. The car is being sold on a clean North Carolina title showing that the previous owner has had the car since 2003.
