Description

In 1990, the Town Car's body went through a major redesign and a rear air suspension was added as standard equipment. That year, it was also named as Motor Trend's Car of the Year. The 1990 Town Car also marked the end of the 1970s-based angular design. The front fender extensions that contained the parking and signal lights were removed, but the traditional Rolls-Royce-inspired grille remained - but now with a modern and aerodynamic front fascia. Parking lights were now located adjoining to the grille and the headlights wrapped around the corners of the front, similar to the look of the 1988 Lincoln Continental. All-new sheet metal gave Town Car a decidedly contemporary look, while styling cues, like those of the trunk lid and taillights, remained somewhat more similar to the 1980s model. The revised interior featured a new dashboard, seats, and door panels. 1991 saw the introduction of Ford's new Modular V8, a 4.6L SOHC design replacing the Ford 302 Windsor, as well as new, lightweight front and rear bumpers. This particular 1991 Lincoln Town Car is a 46,000 original mile car that has only had one owner since1992 when the car only had 15,738 miles! We purchased the car from the 90 year old gentleman that used the car for driving only a few miles at a time, doing errands. The paint is all original with only a few minor scuffs and scratches visible. The most notable are to the front and rear bumpers. None of which are major. All of the glass is in good condition and shows on cracks or chips. Inside, the leather is in great condition with no major wear to be found. Only some very minor wear, which is expected from a 19 year old car. The carpet is in very good condition with only some very minor staining to the front. The rear carpet appears like new. The dash, door panels, headliner and steering wheel are all equally as nice and show no major wear. All gauges are in good working order as well as the lights, blinkers, cruise control and A/C. The radio is currently only emitting static. Under the hood, the 4.6 liter V8 runs great. This was the direct replacement for the popular 302 Windsor. The fuel injected V8 has a ton of power to propel this big sedan down the road. With the air shocks in the rear, the car just floats down the highway. The rear air suspension does not leak. The car has sat in our building for over a week without running and the air has not leaked out of the rear suspension. The motor is nicely detailed and has only needed a new battery in the last 19 years. The underside of the car is extremely solid with no rot to be found. The trunk is nicely carpeted in its original fabric and includes a full size spare as well as a jack. The current mileage shows 46,728 and is original for the car. The car comes with a clean AutoCheck that shows no issues or damage. VIN number is 1LNCM81W3MY697413. The car is being sold on a clean Illinois title showing the previous owner had the car since December 1991.
