Description

The grill and headlights were the most significant changes for the Dodge Coronet for 1958. The headlights were now quad units. Dodge focused on improving the engines, which they did, with all engines of the "wedge" single rocker head design. The top of the line engine was the 361 Cu In V8 which was capable of an astonishing 333 horsepower. The Doge name could be found in block letters along the front edge of the hood. This particular car is a rust free southern car that was originally sold in Alabama. It has stayed down in the south for almost its entire life and shows when you look under the car. This is a very solid example that has gone through a restoration around a year ago which included new paint, interior and a complete rebuild of the original 325 Cu In V8. The paint on the car is in great condition and has had custom pin stripes added around the roof edges and above the license plate. The car is finished in a base coat / clear coat. All of the stainless and chrome on the car is original and in very good condition. The bumpers and trim show some minor scratches and the door handles show some very minor pitting. All of the doors shut with ease and have nice lines all around them. Both antennas are new as well as the window felt. Inside, the seats have been reupholstered and are in great condition. The door panels are all original and look great along with the headliner and sun visors which are all new along with the kick panels and rear parcel shelf. The dash looks great and has been painted the same matching red as the seats. All gauges are in good working condition as well as the lights, blinkers and aftermarket tachometer. There has been an aftermarket AM/FM radio installed under the dash that works with no problems. This is connected to speakers in the kick panels and on the rear parcel tray. Under the hood, the motor is said to be the original 325 Cu In V8 that has been recently rebuilt. With a turn of the key, the car fires right up with no issues and goes down the road with plenty of power. The V8 is connected to the original, rebuilt 2 speed Powerflite automatic transmission that shifts with no problems. There are numerous new and rebuilt mechanical items under the hood and around the car. They include a new master cylinder, rebuilt wheel cylinders, new brake shoes, flex lines, water pump, fuel pump, timing chain, plus, wires air filter, cap, rotors, gas tank, front upper and lower ball joints, control arm bushings and outer tie rod ends. In the trunk, there are new trunk panels installed as well as new black carpet. A full size spare is included in the trunk as well. All tires are new Coker wide white wall radials that have good tread life left on them. The underside of the car is extremely solid with just a small amount of original undercoating left on the car. Most of the original floors are showing and are solid with no rot that we have found. The car currently shows 56,340 miles and the VIN number is LD222236. The car is being sold on a clean Arkansas title.
