With more than $70,000 in receipts, new chrome wire wheels, new paint, detailed engine bay, new wood, Connolly leather seating, Wilton wool carpet and the stellar Jaguar hood ornament intact, this car is feels as luxurious as it did more than 45 years ago!The Jaguar Mark 2 is a medium-sized saloon car built from 1959 to 1967 by the Jaguar Company in England. The year before the announcement of the XJ6, Jaguar relabeled the Mark 2 as the Jaguar 240 and 340. Until the XJ, Jaguar's postwar saloons were denoted by Roman numerals, while the Mark 2 used Arabic numerals.Compared to the Mark 1, appearance of the car transformed by an increase of 18 percent in cabin glass are - which improved visibility. The car was re-engineered above the waistline, slender front pillars allowed a wider windscreen, and the rear window almost wrapped around the to the enlarged side windows. The radiator grille was amended and larger side, tail and fog lamps repositioned. Inside, a new heating system was fitted and ducted to the rear compartment. There was an improved instrument layout which became standard for all Jaguar cars until the XJ series II in 1973.The luxurious Jaguar Mark 2 in our showroom is from one of the last years before the popular XJ series, which in its own right makes it a great collector's item. However, this Jaguar Mark 2 340 had only 2,788 of these cars produced, miniscule in comparison to many other cars produced around the world at this time. The previous owner spent several years and more than $70,000 to restore the car as you see it. Sadly, he had to part with the car just after restoration was completed due to health issues. The Sienna color interior has been wonderfully restored and shows no frays or loose stitching. Much of the work for the restoration of this car was billed by Bill Price Restorations in Los Gatos, Calif. A brief description of Price's work includes but is not limited it:--Car stripped to bare metal--Car repainted correct Willow Green--Suspension beam rebuilt using new bushings, upper and lower ball joints, new wheel bearings, new brake rotors, new wire wheel hubs and new tie rod ends--Steering box rebuilt--Rebuilt brakes installed and beam returned to car--Rear end was cleaned and sent out for rebuild--Engine compartment stripped and repainted--All new grommets installed--All new brake lines installed--All new wiring loom installed--Rebuilt brake booster installed--All new sound deadening and heat shield installed--Engine and overdrive transmission rebuilt--New exhaust system--Radiator re-cored--Windshield wiper motor rebuilt--Fuel tank stripped and resealed--All chrome redone and woodwork refinishedThe center console is also covered in this fine leather and brings together the interior as a whole. The door panels and handles are in excellent condition. While the original speedometer is intact, a set of aftermarket Smiths gauges have been added. These gauges measure water temperature, oil pressure, fuel and amperage. The dashboard is in a burled wood and looks as smooth as it did in 1967.The exterior presents itself beautifully in the correct Willow Green paint. This color will mesh wonderfully with the blooming trees on a peaceful weekend drive. The chrome is in great condition and has been re-chromed during the restoration process. The wire Jaguar wheels are wrapped around Coker American Classic tires measuring P/95/75R15. All the wood throughout the car was masterfully restored and looks stunning! The fully rebuilt 3.4 L XK inline six-cylinder engine makes this Jaguar purr, but the drive is very smooth as this is one of the smoothest rides we have experienced. The engine is mated with a four-speed manual transmission that shifts easily through its gates. With fewer than 3,000 of these 340s produced, finding one is no easy task, but MotoeXotica has helped make that quest easier. With all its restoration, this is a smooth luxury car that will upgrade any collection, and it comes with the original owners manual. VIN is P180908DN, and mileage reads 80,207 on a clean California title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!
