Description

The Continental name was revived in 1955 as a separate Ford brand, with its sole model being the . Continental Mark II. Unique design with the highest quality control ever seen in the automobile industry. High-class luxury abound in the new Continental and with very limited availability, it appeared even more exclusive than the original.Continental for '56 was one of the most expensive cars in the world with a cost of $10,000 at a time when a regular Ford could be had for less than $2000, it rivaled Rolls Royce but with its astronomical price tag, Ford actually lost money on each one sold. On a side note, Cadillac suffered a similar financial loss with its own Continental rival, the four-door Eldorado Brougham. Vehicles such as these were image builders for the two companies, as well as test beds for new ideas and concepts. The Continental Mark II was sold for just two model years, with about 3,000 total units built. Between the tales of dealers turning potential buyers away because they were not deemed to be the right kind of people to own Continental, and its sticker price found affordable by only the world's wealthiest, the Continental became almost mythical. Many celebrities drove them, including Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lewis, the Shan of Iran, Nelson Rockefeller and Henry Kissinger among others.Join the ranks of the rich and famous by owning this incredible automobile! Our 1956 Lincoln Mark II is absolutely stunning and very worthy of the list of names above and now it's time to add your name to the list. The beautiful beige exterior is in very good condition as can be seen in the pictures with only light scratches that really have to be looked for to be found. All the chrome and trim is in great shape and like the paint, shows light scratches that also have to be looked for to be found. The interior is equally as impressive with a bronze/ beige combination in both cloth and leather. The car also features power seats, power steering, power brakes, power windows and A/C! The engine is the correct 368 cu power plant that runs great and the transmission shifts great too. The VIN # is C5691227 which designates that it was the 1227th Continental built. The car shows 59,348 which we believe to be original but can not verify due to a mileage exempt title due to the cars age. With only 3,000 cars built total and even fewer to have survived over the years there is no time like the present to sit behind the steering wheel of this 50's luxury car and drive!
