Description

In 1955 the Dodge Coronet was restyled and grew by six-inches, became wider, and now sat closer to the ground. They were now the base trim level for Dodge. Both the six and eight cylinder engines now produced more horsepower. The eight-cylinder unit was capable of 175 horsepower. Tri-colored paint schemes were not uncommon. In the front was a new grille that was divided intro two separate openings. The parking lights were incorporated into the grille. The windshield was a classy wraparound design. Sales were very positive as the public agreed with the design and the vehicles mechanical abilities. Riding on the wings of success, Dodge made the wise decision to not mess with the design for 1956. The side trim and taillights were slightly modified. Tail fins could now be found protruding from the rear. A push-button transmission was now offered as optional equipment. This technology had been borrowed from Chrysler and proved to be rather popular with many. This particular car is finished in a beautiful shade of royal blue metallic with sapphire white. With the newly rechromed trim and bumpers and chrome wire wheels, the car is striking in person and draws a large amount of attention wherever it goes. The car has benefited from a recent restoration that included paint and interior. The paint is nearly perfect with no major blemishes to be found. The same goes for the front and rear bumpers which both have a great shine and luster to them. All stainless is in good condition with no missing pieces or notable damage. Glass is in good condition all around with no chips or cracks. Inside, the newly reupholstered seats look great and show no wear. The same goes for the new carpet, door panels and headliner. The steering wheel shows no cracking or pitting to the horn ring. All lights, blinkers and wipers work with no problems as well as the heater blower. The dash has been painted to match the exterior of the car and looks great with no imperfections. Under the hood, the Red Ram V8 runs great and starts up with no problems. The motor is very clean and not overly detailed. On the road, the car runs and drives with no problems or smoking. Brakes straight and steers straight with no pull to either side. The underside of the car is very solid with no rot that we have seen. It has been lightly undercoated to prevent any rust in the future. In the trunk, you will find a full size white wall spare which is new as well as a jack, car cover and fire extinguisher. The truck has new liner. The mileage currently shows 59,738 which is said to be original for the car but we have no documentation to support this. VIN number is 35143351 and the car is being sold on a clean Michigan title showing that the previous owner has had the car since 2001.
