The 1965 Mustang GT was a factory offered package. The car came equipped with a 289 V8 engine, 4 barrel carb, fog lights, dual exhaust and front disk brakes. A White stripe ran from wheel well to wheel well. GT's also had a stiffer suspension and tight ratio steering box. For 1965, regular (non GT) Mustangs had a rectangular instrument gauge, the same one used on the Ford Falcon. The GT's had the five round dial instrument cluster, gauges showing Fuel --- Oil Pressure ---Speedometer --- Amp Meter -- Water Temperature. Ford began using the five round dial cluster on all the Mustangs starting in 1966.This particular '65 Ford Mustang GT was special ordered from the factory finished in this shade of metallic copper which looks great. The car is said to be a true GT with all the correct options to back this up. With the white pony interior and power white convertible top, the car is stunning to look at and even better to drive. This is truly one of those cars you can just get in, turn the key and drive as far as you like. I wouldn't hesitate driving this car to either coast. Outside, the car has been repainted in its original color of metallic copper which looks great with the lower white GT stripes and badging. The white convertible top with plastic rear window is also new and in great condition with no staining or tears and goes up and down with no problems. The rear window is free of any discoloration. Both front and rear bumpers are nearly perfect with no imperfections to be found on either. Both retain a brilliant shine and luster. Inside, the correct white pony interior looks great and shows no major signs of wear. The black carpet does show some fading from the sun but has no rips or tears. The same goes for the black dash. All gauges are in good working order as well as the lights, blinkers, wipers and horn. The optional tachometer and clock mounted on the steering column both work with no issues. The car has passed a Missouri State Safety inspection recently. Under the hood, the 289 Cu In V8 runs great and starts with a turn of the key. The engine is nicely detailed but driven and not overly detailed. There is power steering but no power brakes. The front brakes are discs though. In the trunk, there is a full size spare with jack, all covered with the original style trunk matting. There has been a new trunk pan installed.The underside is extremely solid with no rot that we have found or undercoating. The correct Mustang wheels are wrapped with white wall radial tires that all have good tread life left on them. This is an incredibly nice driving car that is extremely straight and solid. All doors shut easily and have good lines all around. The current mileage shows 36,510 and the VIN number is 5R08A221339. The car is being sold on a clean Missouri title.
