One of the sturdiest 4x4 vehicles ever made was this 1969 Land Rover Series IIA. This very clean, restored truck is a throwback to the days when off road meant you needed a durable, go anywhere, do anything, low maintenance vehicle. Often seen in the classic movies, shows and documentaries filmed in Africa, these trucks have blazed trails where no other trucks have yet gone. Powered by a 2.25L 4 cylinder diesel, the Series IIA is a torquey little beast that was the original beast of burden for those on the far edges of the world. Aluminum bodied to reduce weight, high ground clearance to go where there were no roads and designed with simplicity in mind, this is truly a collectable classic all terrain vehicle! What is so incredible about these vehicles is that Land Rover says that 70% of these vehicles ever made are still in use today-a claim first made in the 1992 brochure and repeated many times since. This particular 1969 Land Rover Series IIA Utility is a fun to drive, right hand drive SUV that feels like you step back in time every time you crawl into the driver's seat. Looking at the instrument cluster and dash you feel as if you are in a vintage airplane and not a truck. Cool doesn't even begin to describe flipping the switches and turning the key starting the little diesel and selecting the correct gear with your left hand. The paint is a beautiful navy blue that shows well with very few imperfections and don't worry about rust the body is aluminum and the frame is galvanized steel! Both bumpers look great and have no major imperfections to be found to either. There is a hefty sized winch attached to the front bumper and is spooled with heavy synthetic rope instead of steel cable. Attached to the end is a self locking safety hook. Inside, the seats look very good with only one tear to the passenger side seat as you can see in the photos. All gauges are in good working order as well as the lights and switches. The steering wheel has been replaced with an aftermarket, vinyl wrapped wheel that looks great. In the rear, there is plenty of room to store whatever you want to haul. Under the hood, the 2.25 liter diesel runs great and is a little powerhouse. With tons of torque, this Land Rover will go wherever you would dream about it going. Connected to the four speed manual transmission, the Jeep is a joy to drive. With Jeeps dominating the off road scene at all your local off road meets, you are sure to stand apart from the crowd in your new right hand drive Rover.
