Description

For 1979, a new, trimmer Eldorado was introduced, and for the first time the car shared its chassis with the Buick Riviera as well as the Toronado. Smaller 350 and 368 V8's replaced the 500 and 425 monsters of the preceding model, giving better fuel efficiency. For 1979, it was offered only with the Oldsmobile 350 as standard, with the diesel 350 available as an option. In 1980, the gas 350 was replaced with the Cadillac 368 except in California, where the Oldsmobile 350 was retained for that year. Independent rear suspension was adopted, helping retain rear-seat and trunk room in the smaller body. The most notable styling touch was an extreme notch-back roof-line, making the rear window almost vertical. Although downsized, these Eldorados were still substantial-sized cars with good room and power. The model year of 1985 was the last year for the Eldorado convertible. Because of its limited edition (around 2,300 total), the convertible models are now highly sought after by numerous collectors. The paint on this car is very good, no major trouble areas have been found. The car does have a few minor chips above the front bumper, which is expected for a car of this age that has been driven. All the chrome on the car is in good condition and shows little pitting and no peeling that we have found, it also retains a great luster and shine. The power soft top is in great condition with no major staining, or damage and goes up and down with no issues. There is a small, one inch tear to the driver's side, rear of the top. The interior of the car is equally in good condition, the beautiful red leather interior shows very little to no wear, and still retains its healthy original color as it has not faded. The wood trim on the door panels and dashboard are also in good condition, showing no cracking, peeling, or fading. The carpet on the interior of the car is still in good condition, it does not have any staining or tears that we have found. The car does retain its original radio in the dashboard, but a more recent CD player has been mounted underneath the dash. Under the hood the powerful V8 runs smoothly and quietly as it always has. While the engine is not highly detailed it does run great and does not show any signs of leaks or abuse. This car runs down the road smoothly with no pulling or noticeable vibrations. The underside of the car shows no rust or rot that we have found. The VIN number is 1G6EL6781FE606837 and is being sold on a clean Missouri Title.
