Description

For the 1941 model year, redesigned fenders were incorporated in the rear. Each fender displays three horizontal trim spears, which are a one-year-only design. Optional fender skirts are also graced with the Cadillac emblem for a more elegant look. The steel body sits on a robust channel-section frame with a central X-crossmember sporting a 126-inch wheelbase. The outside of the car is in very good, solid condition. The black paint is older but still retains a good shine and is in very good condition. The front and rear bumpers are both in great condition with a good shine and luster. No damage is showing to either. There has been a red pin stripe added around the car which is a very nice touch. There are fender skirts that come with the car but at the time of the photos there were not on the car. Both are in good condition with no damage and go on and off with no issues. The deluxe coupe has room for four, welcomed by bench seats dressed in wool broadcloth, usually in tan or gray, this particular vehicle has gray cloth. Door panels sport imitation leather on the lower portion, which is much more durable for the occasional foot contact during ingress and egress. The imitation wood grain instrument panel houses the standard array of gauges with the speedometer offset to the right of the steering column. The auxiliary gauges are set horizontally to the left, a clock matching the speedometer dresses off the passenger side, and includes an automatic cigarette lighter. The radio is currently missing from this vehicle. The standard power plant was the 346-cu.in. V-8 delivering 150 bhp with fuel delivered via Stromberg or Carter carburetors. This car retains the factory power plant, but we are not certain whether or not the engine has been rebuilt, it does however run flawlessly and starts every time with no issues. While carburetors and compression ratios varied after the engine was introduced, most of the overall internals did not. This includes the 3.50 x 4.50-inch bore and stroke, three main bearings, and the use of hydraulic lifters which gave the Cadillac the distinction of having smooth and whisper-silent engines. The monoblock -- the block and crankcase are cast as a single unit -- remained unchanged from 1941 through 1948. Cadillac's prolonged use of the 346 is a bonus for enthusiasts today who are looking to simply maintain or fully restore the engine.Aside from Cadillac's redesign, the big news on the mechanical side was the introduction of the Hydra-Matic Drive --this option was available straight up until it became standard equipment in 1950 in the 62 Series -- it remained optional in the rest of the lineup for a few more years. Finding a suitable replacement transmission isn't difficult, and complete rebuild kits for the Hydra-Matic are also available. This car is one such example equipped with the Hydra-Matic transmission. The underside of the car is very solid with no rot that we have seen. The same goes for the trunk which has been lined with durable black carpet. This is a great example of a Series 62 Cadillac that is sure to bring the new owner tons of happiness. The VIN is 8356734 and the odometer reads 53,000 miles. The vehicle is being sold on a clean mileage exempt Missouri title.
