Description

The Ford Bronco sat atop a small 92 inch wheelbase which made it suitable for off-road excursions. Its body, frame and suspension were all new and did not share with any other vehicles. The brakes and axles were courtesy of the Ford F-100 trucks. The rear suspension had leaf springs in a Hotchkiss design. Coil springs were used which gave the Bronco an anti-dive geometry which came in handy during snowplowing. The front axle was connected by leading arms and a lateral track bar. A heavy duty suspension was available, but at an additional cost. The design was simple with flat glass, no-frills bumpers, and a square body. The $2194 base price included front bucket seats and a rear bench seat. An auxiliary gas tank, snowplow, winch, tow bar, posthole digger, campers, overdrive units, and an array of tires and wheels were also available. For model-year 1974 production was 18,786. Subsequent years would see further declines. Then, too, there was very few things that were new with this years Bronco. The automatic transmission quadrant was now lighted, the six and optional 4.11 final-drive gear were no longer available in California, where emissions standards were stringent, the J-shifter was the only setup, even with the manual transmission. This particular Bronco is an 85,000 original mile truck that is mostly original with no major modifications ever being done to it. The truck has benefited from a new paint job that looks great and was done over a very solid body. The mild restoration that was done to this truck was done by a Ford body shop. The hardtop does lift off and fits on the truck tight. The glass is all in very good condition with no cracks or major chips in any of the windows. Inside, the seats have been recovered and all look great with no major wear to any of them. The door panels have been finished in the matching material as the seats. Under the rubber floor mats, you can see the solidness of the floors that show no holes. The headliner is new and looks great. All lights, blinkers and wipers work with no problems along with the AM/FM radio. With a 302 c.i. motor under the hood and available four wheel drive, this Bronco will easily do some off-roading with its new alloy wheels wrapped in 31" Wild Country tires. Power steering is also included with this beautiful truck, all the original gauges are still in place and functional. With an odometer reading of just over 85,000 miles, this vehicle was still virtually new before its restoration performed by a Ford body shop. This is a very nice, mostly original truck that still has a ton of life left in it. These Broncos are becoming increasingly hard to find in this solid state and originality. Current mileage shows 85,355 and the VIN number is U15GLT84549. The truck is being sold on a clean Kansas title.
