Description

The 1956 Lincoln Coupe was the first automobile recognized for outstanding design by the Industrial Designers Institute. In an era of tail fins and strange gimmicks, this big, sleek motor car was considered both daring and almost neoclassical in its simple elegance. Lincolns became popular with the entertainment community; Walt Disney drove a "Wisteria" hued coupe. This particular 1956 Lincoln Capri Coupe was a Colorado Spring's couple's gifts to one another on Christmas Eve in 1955. It was lovingly maintained by the same family of owners for thirty-five years before it was sold to its second owner in March of 1992 in Riverside California. Since then, that is where the car has stayed, in the dry climate of southern California. Outside, the car is finished in its original color combination of Summit Green with a Starmist White roof and is in fantastic condition with no major blemishes that we have found. The car retains its original paint job and still retains a great shine. Front and rear bumpers both have a great luster and shine with no major dents or pitting. Both appear to have been rechromed sometime in the past. All the trim and bright work on the car is intact with no major damage showing to any of it. Inside, the interior is mostly original and is in great condition considering its 54 years of age. It is finished in its original color of green. The carpet does show a small bit of wear and appears to be original for the car but is covered with original style Lincoln floor mats. Both front and rear seats look great with only some minor staining as you can see in the photos. The front seat does have some piping that has come loose on the seat back. With the exception of the AM radio which only emits static, everything works inside. From the power antenna to the interior lights, to the lights, blinkers, wipers and horn. Under the hood, the 368 Cu In V8 runs great and is the original for the car as far as we can tell. It does come with power steering, power brakes and A/C. The motor is in very good, original condition with no damage that we can see. There has been new exhaust manifolds installed to both sides. On the road, the car runs great and has plenty of power. This giant will cruise at 60 mph all day long out on the open road with all your friends in the back. The wide white wall tires are in good condition with no major wear showing and are covered with original style Lincoln hubcaps that look great. The current mileage shows 113,795 and the VIN number is 56LA7435L. The car is being sold on a clean California title that shows the previous owner has had the car since March of 1992.
