Description

Cadillac's were restyled and re-engineered for 1961. The new grille slanted back towards both the bumper and the hood lip along the horizontal plane and sat between quad headlamps. New forward slanting front roof pillars with non-wraparound windshield glass was seen. The revised rear window treatment had crisp, angular lines with thin pillars on some models and heavier, semi-blind-quarter roof posts on others. With GM settling into a styling groove, Cadillac's '62s were basically toned-down '61s. Highlights included still-lower fins, front-fender cornering lights as a new option, a somewhat tamer grille, and backup/turn/stop lights combined behind a single white lens. Four-window sedans received more orthodox rooflines but still included a pair of short-deck variants, which were now named Series 62 Town Sedan and DeVille Park Avenue. A new braking system with dual master cylinder and separate front and rear hydraulic lines appeared, a portent of the future. This particular car, finished in its original colors of Sandalwood with Sandalwood interior is a true, 85,000 original mile car. This is a highly optioned car, as you can see by the data plate, which comes with all the power options as well as A/C, Autronic Eye, power locks, windows, 6-way seat and remote trunk. This car has been lowered about 2 inches in the front and looks great. It appears that the lowered look would hurt the ride quality of the car but it honestly doesn't. The car still drives very smooth and you can't tell that the front has been lowered. The wheels will turn just shy of lock to lock without rubbing. The paint is in great condition and has been resprayed sometime in the past. It appears that the car has gone through an older cosmetic restoration. Both front and rear bumpers are in great condition with no major pitting or damage showing to either. The rest of the trim going around the car looks great with no major dents or dings. The body is very solid with no rot and shows that it's been in the southwest all of its life. Inside, the interior appears to be almost all original and in great condition. All the power functions work including the seat and windows. The original seats and carpet do show some very minor fading but overall is solid with no major rips or tears and looks very good for being almost 50 years old. There is a tear in the headliner around the driver's side visor. The steering wheel is solid with no cracking and looks great as well as the dash which shows no buckling or tears. Under the hood, the engine is extremely clean and original. No major aftermarket components appear to have ever been installed. The car starts and runs with no problems and goes down the road with no problems. The wide white radial tires are all new and in great condition and give the car a distinct look. They are wrapped around original Cadillac wheels and hubcaps which look great. The underside of the car is very solid and shows that no rot that we have seen. In the trunk, you will find a full size spare as well as a jack and the original carpeting. VIN number is 62L152563 and the current mileage shows 85,101. The car is being sold on a clean Kansas title.
