Description

Pontiac introduced the Firebird February 23, 1967, to compete with the Chevrolet Camaro and the Ford Mustang. The Firebird was designed from the Camaro's F-Body design and the GTO's A-Body drive train with a different rear end, sub-frame, split-grill front end, six vertical louvers on the front of the rear quarter panels, and louver style tail lamps. Improvements were also made in the engine placement, front suspension, and reinforced rear springs. In 1968, the convertible and a hardtop coupe saw changes in their engines, The 1967 326 cubic inch V8 was upgraded to a 350 cubic inch two-barrel with 265 horsepower. This was available for an additional $105.60 which this car was ordered with. Finished in the best color combination of Solar red with the original colored black vinyl interior, the car presents itself extremely well. This is an A/C car that has been recently charged and still blows cold. Finished in Solar red with black soft top, the car is very straight with no bubbling or rot to be found. There are a few minor scratches to the paint from age which is expected. The top is manual and goes up and down with no issues. It looks fairly new with no major imperfections to the vinyl top or plastic rear window. The rubber around the windows is good and the glass is free of any major chips or cracks. Inside, the interior is finished in the original color of black. The vinyl seats are in very good original condition with only a minor tear to the top of the passenger seat. The carpet is newer as well as the dash and both look great with no major imperfections. There has been an aftermarket gauge cluster installed under the dash which keeps track of the engine temperature and oil pressure. All of the gauges are in good working order as well as the A/C which does blow cold. There has been a new Alpine AM/FM CD player installed which works with no problems. Under the hood, the 265 horsepower, 350 Cu In V8 runs great. It is said to be the original for the car but we have not confirmed this. The front pad on the engine shows the motor is a "YJ 131158" code motor. Connected to the two speed automatic transmission, the car goes down the road with no problems and shifts as it should. With A/C, power steering and power brakes, the car is a joy to drive. The underside of the car is very solid overall with the only rot that we have seen being to the drivers side, front floor around the sub frame (See photo). The trunk is solid and includes a full size spare and jack. The current mileage shows 40,530 and the VIN number is 223678U109389. The car is being sold on a clean Missouri title.
