Description

In the 1950s, Oldsmobile refined its winning strategy by providing more of everything - more power, more luxury, and more style for the American automobile buyer. In turn, Oldsmobile moved up to fourth place in sales for 1955. In large part, Oldsmobile's remarkable success was due to its modern and stylish Holiday two- and four-door hardtop models. For 1955, the entire Oldsmobile line continued with the strong "X-member" frame design that was introduced in 1954. The larger 98 series utilized a 126-inch wheelbase, a full four inches longer than that of the 88 models. While the entire Oldsmobile line offered many standard features not available on other makes, the 98 series raised the bar even higher, with the inclusion of the Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, a padded dash, an electric clock, power steering, windshield washers, Deluxe steering wheels, courtesy lights and back-up lights. This particular car comes with just about every available option that you could get at the time. Power windows, steering, brakes, leather interior, AM radio, automatic transmission, this car had it all! Finished in its original colors of Coral over Shell Beige, the car presents it self extremely well. No major scratches to the paint or dents to the body. The chrome and stainless appears to be almost all original. Both front and rear bumpers look great with only some minor scratches and dings. All of the steel trim around the car looks great with no major imperfections. Inside, the car retains its original colored black / ivory interior. It has been reupholstered in the last few years and looks great. The carpet, padded dash and headliner are also new and look fantastic. Door panels are equally as nice and are finished in the matching shades of black and ivory. All the gauges are in good working order as well as the lights, wipers and horn. The car does have A/C but the belt is currently off of the compressor. Under the hood, the 324 Cu In V8 runs great and starts with no problems. The motor is not highly detailed but is very clean overall and appears to be the original for the car. It is connected to the rare Hydromatic 3 speed automatic transmission that shifts as it should with no problems. The car does come with power brakes and power steering, both of which were standard on the Holiday 98. On the road, the car drives very straight and true. No pulling to either side under braking. Underneath, the car is very solid with no rot that we have seen. The trunk looks good and includes a full size spare and jack. There has been newer matting installed to improve the look in the trunk. The VIN number is 559C8923. The car is being sold on a clean Kansas title.
