Description

The Coronet and similar Plymouth Belvedere received complete redesigns in 1968, as did the Dodge Charger, which shared the B-body platform. Trim levels initially included the base Coronet, Coronet Deluxe, Coronet 440, Coronet 500 and Coronet R/T. Of the 343 1968 Dodge Coronet 500 Convertibles made, this is one of only 18 that is currently registered in Galen Govier's registry and the only red/white car. Powered by the original high performance 383 V8 and 727 torque flight transmission, the car is a wonderful driving classic that you can feel confident taking on any extended road trip. Finished in its original color combination of red with white power soft top, the car really stands out on the road. The paint is free of any major blemishes as well as the top which looks to be newer. The front and rear chrome bumpers have a great shine to them with no pitting or damage to be found. The glass is all in good condition with no chips or cracks. The previous owner has recently added an R/T hood along with the rear bumble bee stripe. Both of which look great. Inside, the original style and color white seats look great with no major wear showing. The seats are said to be newer and from Legendary Auto Interiors. The same goes for the carpet and boot cover. The steering wheel shows no cracking and there has been an aftermarket tach and oil pressure gauge installed which both work with no issues. Even the original AM radio works! All interior lights work as well as exterior lights, blinkers, wipers, horn and heater. The car recently passed a Missouri Safety Inspection with no problems. Under the hood, the correct 383 Cu In V8 runs great. The car starts right up when you turn the key with no pumping of the gas or hesitation. On the road the car is very smooth and drives great. No pulling to either side or vibrations at speed. The car does have power steering but not power brakes. This is truly a classic that you can get in and drive from coast to coast. The underside of the car is very solid with no rot that we have seen. The exhaust is newer and in good condition. The car comes with the paperwork from Galen Govier showing the breakdown and details of the car and where it is in the registry. The current mileage shows 10,466 with VIN number of WP27H8G121358.
