Description

Beginning with the 1964 model year, the Buick Skylark, along with the lower-priced Special from which it was derived, would move to a new intermediate-size chassis that was shared with the Oldsmobile F-85, Pontiac Tempest, and the new Chevrolet Chevelle. The new chassis had a wheelbase of 115 in and the Buick Special and Skylark had a length of 203.5 in. In addition to the two-door convertible and hardtop coupe body-styles, a Skylark four-door sedan became available for the first time. Skylarks, however, would continue to have higher levels of exterior and interior trim compared to the Special and Special Deluxe from which they were derived. All-vinyl bucket seats would be standard on the convertible and optional on the hardtop coupe.Of the 6,129 convertibles made in 1966, this is possibly one of the nicest, low mileage examples to be found. Finished in its original color combination of Astro Blue with White top, the car has gone through one repaint in its life and shows very well. Bumpers are both original for the car and in great condition with no major pitting or damage to be found. The white soft top is believed to be the original for the car and in very good condition. The top shows no staining or tears. Inside, the blue vinyl interior looks great and is original for the car. The same goes for the carpet which looks great. The padded dash looks nearly perfect with no cracking or buckling. There is some cracking to the steering wheel as you can see in the photos. All lights and blinkers work along with the wipers, horn and original AM radioIn the last two years the car has gone through a lot of updating. This includes rebuilding the rear end, new springs in the rear, new shocks, aluminum radiator, new timing chain and gears as well as a complete new exhaust system. The car was taken on the Hot Rod Power Tour in 2008 with no problems. Under the hood is very clean with no damage to be found. The car does have power steering but not power brakes. The 300 cubic inch V8 starts up with a turn of the key and runs down the road great. The underside of the car is extremely solid with no rot to be found. The frame supports, floors and trunk are all solid with no holes. This is a true, unmolested 48,000 mile car that has been driven over 4,000 trouble free miles in the last 2 1/2 years. The car is being sold on a clean Kansas title showing only 42,578 original miles when the car was purchased May of 2007. The VIN number is 444676B126478.
