Description

The 1974 Grand Prix received a revised split grille with vertical bars that was entirely above the bumper. Out back, the boat tail effect was softened somewhat thanks to a new federally mandated 5 mph (8 km/h) bumper that was added to the similar mandated front bumper introduced in 1973. The license plate and fuel filler were moved above the bumper and taillight lenses were revised. The interior trim remained virtually unchanged from 1973, with standard seating choices, including Strato bucket seats with center console or notchback bench seat with an armrest and cloth or Morrokide upholstery. The bucket seats were available with optional recliners and adjustable lumbar support. Engines were carried over from 1973, including the 400 CID V8 (standard on the Model J) and 455 CID V8 (standard on the Model SJ, optional on the Model J). A Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission, variable-ratio power steering, and power brakes were standard equipment on both models. This particular 1974 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J is a three owner car that currently shows only 55,000 ORIGINAL miles! The original owner of this car owned a Pontiac dealership in the Boston area and this was his personal car. Once retired and living in North Carolina he then sold the car to a Pontiac collector who the last owner purchased it from. The paint on the car is completely original along with the vinyl top and upholstery. Both front and rear bumpers look great with no major imperfections that we have found with the exception of some paint chipping below the rear window. The body is extremely solid with no bubbling. Inside, the interior is nearly flawless. With the exception of some minor wear to the drivers seat bolster, there are no major imperfections to speak of inside. Headliner, carpet and dash are all free of cracks or rips as well as the steering wheel which shows no fading or major wear. All lights, blinkers and wipers work as well as the original AM/FM 8 track player. The car comes loaded with all the options including power door locks, windows and driver and passenger seats. Under the hood, the original 400 Cu In V8 runs great and fires up with a turn of the key. The radiator has been rebuilt as well as new shock absorbers. Under the hood looks great and completely stock. The climate control still works as well as all the options on the car. This is one of those cars that is just as good today as the day it came off the assembly line. It goes down the road straight and brakes with no issues. It's truly a turn key classic. The underside is completely solid as well as the trunk which includes a full size spare and jack along with the original trunk lining. The wheels are original and look very good overall. They are wrapped with white wall radials with good tread life left on them. The current mileage shows 55,783 and the VIN number is 2K57T4A134766.
