Description

From a 30mpg+ economy sedan targeted to college students in the mid-1960's, to the "mini-brute" family station wagon of 1968-1972, to the fastback "Rallye" model (featuring fog lights, body stripes, gauge panel, chrome rims, and a wood-replica steering wheel) of 1967-1970, the Kadett featured more body style variations than any other Opel model ever imported to North America. So many Kadetts were sold in 1969 that in that year the Opel was the #2 import vehicle sold in the USA second only to the Volkswagen. Today, the Kadett is rarely seen on the highways of North America (or anywhere else, for that matter) excepting the Opel car shows. The "daily driver" for thousands of Opel buyers in the 1960's and 1970's has now become a classic.Parts are still available for mechanical applications from specialty Opel vendors (the 1968-1972 Kadett shared the 1.1 SR and 1.9 liter engines, driveline, suspension and brakes, with the Opel GT), and some of the "Tech Tips" for the GT also apply to the Kadett; however some Kadett body and interior pieces are now quickly becoming collector's items. To find these cars in any condition is rare and to find a car with less then 100,000 miles is nearly impossible! Well the impossible just became possible! You are looking at a 62,000 ORIGINAL mile, solid, California car. This 1969 Opel Kadett L is a 62,000 original mile car that has spent almost its entire life in California. In the last year, the car has been repainted and had the engine rebuilt less then 500 miles ago. Along with paint, new tires were installed as well as brakes, wheel cylinders and electronic ignition. This is a great driving little two door wagon that you can drive everyday, getting almost 30mpg! Under the hood, the 1.9 liter 4 cylinder starts with a turn of the key and goes down the road with no problems. The paint on the car is new and looks great. Both front and rear bumpers have a great shine to them and show no damage. All the glass looks great and does have the original weather stripping which does show some cracking and dry rot. This is a very solid car with no rot to be found. The body is straight and all doors shut tight and easily. Inside, the original vinyl seats are in great condition with no major imperfections. The same goes for the carpet, headliner and dash. The steering wheel does show some very minor cracking but none that go all the way through. All lights, blinkers and wipers work as well as the heater and fan. The original AM radio does turn on and light up but currently does not emit any sound. The 1.9 liter 4 cylinder runs great. Turn the key and it fires right up with no problems. On the road it has a surprising amount of power and drives straight with no pulling to either side under braking. Under the hood is very clean and looks like a 60,000 mile car should. Very original with no rust or signs of damage to be found. The car is being sold on an actual mileage title from the state of Arizona. VIN number is 399144026 and the current mileage shows 62,431 which is believed to be actual. This is a rare opportunity to own an Opel Kadett with less then 100,000 miles and in such good, original condition. Be the star of the next Opel show!!
