Description

The Porsche 911T was added to the line up in 1968 as the "Touring" form of the 911. The 911T had the 2.0 liter engine, but with only 110 horsepower. As of 1969, the 911T got the 2" lengthening in its wheelbase as did the other 911s. It retained its Weber carburetor while the other 911s received Mechanical Fuel Injection. 1970 brought on the first engine displacement increase, to 2.2L. (2,195cc). That upped the output to 125 horsepower. For both '70 and '71, the engine had Zenith carbs, and kept the same compression ratio of 8.6:1. Until 1972, all 911T models had a different transmission than the 911S and 911E. In 1972, the 911s received 2.4Liters (2,341cc) and the 911T output 140 hp at 5,600 rpm. Part of this power came from the addition of mechanical FI, something other 911s had for years. Compression was lowered to 7.5:1. All the 911 models shared the same 915/12 transmission. 1973 was the last year for the 911T, and there were two different model distinctions, an "early" and a "late". The late 911T changed to a K-Jetronic fuel injection system. Power remained at 140 hp. As for all the 911T years, you could get either a Coupe or Targa. This particular car is a fantastic driving little Targa top that comes with a freshly rebuilt 2.4L six cylinder. Originally being sold in California, the car spent most of it's life there before going to Telluride Colorado where it was until February of 2007 when it went to Fort Worth Texas. This is where we purchased the car from. During the restoration, the car was almost completely dismantled before paint and then put back together using many new rubber and chrome trim parts. New targa top seals were also installed. The paint on the car is in very good overall condition and has a very great shine to it. With the exception of a few small chips to the front bonnet, there are very few imperfections to the entire body. Both doors shut tight as well as the trunk. Inside, the seats are in great condition and have both been recovered in the front. The vinyl seats in the rear both look good and have been recovered. Carpet is also new and in very good condition. The dash looks good but does show a bit of buckling towards the windshield. All gauges are in good working order except for the clock. There has been a Pioneer AM/FM CD radio installed that works with no problems and sounds great coming from the aftermarket 6" speakers in the doors. The A/C does not work currently due to the compressor being disconnected. The compressor is included with the purchase of the vehicle. All lights, blinkers, wipers and horn work with no problems. The engine has been rebuilt according to the previous owner but we don't have any receipts for the rebuild. During the rebuild, Carrera tensioners were installed along with turbo valve covers, Carrera front oil cooler, oil level sending unit, injector pump oil line, ignition coil, unit and points. The suspension was also upgraded with new camber strut braces. Other new parts include hood struts, washer motor pump, parking brake, clutch cable, wiper blades and other smaller miscellaneous items like trim parts and rubber pieces. The 5 speed transmission was also rebuilt at the same time of the engine rebuild. This was all around 5,000 miles ago. The underside of the car is very solid and shows that it has been in dry states since new. The floors are good as well as the body which shows no bubbling that we have found. The current mileage shows 51,146 but have no records of this being actual or not. The car is being sold on a clean Texas title with VIN number .
