Description

The Jaguar E-Type was initially designed and shown to the public as a grand tourer in two-seater coup form and as a convertible. On its release, Enzo Ferrari called it "The most beautiful car ever made". Coming from the man who was making some of the most beautiful car's ever produced, that was saying a lot. Starting with the series III E-Types, a new 5.3 L 12-cylinder Jaguar V12 engine was introduced, with upgraded brakes and standard power steering. The short wheelbase fixed head body style was discontinued and the V12 was available only as a convertible and 2+2 coup. The convertible used the longer-wheelbase 2+2 floor plan. It is easily identifiable by the large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V12. These are said to be the smoothest, silkiest, most comfortable and the softest of the E-Types.The car you see here is a 1974 Series III Roadster. Finished in the most desirable color combination of signal red with black leather, the car is a pure joy to drive with it's 4 speed manual gear box. With the optional factory hardtop, the car is a rare find. The correct motor (serial number 16620) remains in the car and runs beautifully. The four Stromberg carburetors are in sync with each other and the car starts right up, warm or cold. The previous owner informed us that the engine had a complete rebuild and is still looking for copies of the work order but as of right now we don't have receipts in hand. The motor performs flawlessly and smoothly with no hesitation. The car has recently passed a Texas State Safety Inspection, showing that its road worthy and ready to drive. The paint on the car is in fantastic condition with no major imperfections to speak of. There are a few very minor chips and nicks, none of which are major. The front and rear chrome bumpers show very well with no major pitting or scratches. The same goes for the grill and stainless trim around the car, including the trim on the hardtop. The bumper over riders do have some minor imperfections to them but are solid overall. The vinyl soft top goes up and down with no issues and is in great condition. The plastic rear window is clear and shows no yellowing or fading. The boot fits with no problems. Inside, the black leather seats are in great condition with no major wear or cracking. The same goes for the dash and steering wheel which are both solid. No buckling or cracking to the dash. Carpet is newer and shows no major wear anywhere. All gauges are in good working order including the clock. This is an original A/C car that has been recently recharged with R134. All lights, blinkers, wipers and horn work with no issues. Under the bonnet, the original V12 is very clean and unmolested from its original state. This is a factory power steering and A/C car. The Stromberg carbs are in sync and don't need to be rebuilt. The car starts with a bit of choke and a turn of the key. On the road, the updated exhaust system emits the classic V12 sound as you go through the 4 speed manual gear box. You will get more fun out of these E-Type's then almost any classic on the road. They are an absolute joy to drive. The wire wheels are factory original's and include a full size knock off spare in the trunk. Trunk also includes the factory carpet matting. The current mileage shows 04,646. VIN number is UE1S25312 and the car is being sold on a clean Texas title showing that the car was previously in Portland Oregon before Texas.
