Description

AR models were the very first Model A's produced. They do not have some of the running changes (improvements) of the regular production vehicles for which production began in earnest after Christmas 1927. AR models are the rarest of all Model A Fords and are rarely found in a condition as nice as this one. This 1928 roadster has gone through a complete frame off restoration to original standards. The AR's stand apart from the Model A's in a number of ways. The most obvious being the red steering wheel, fan shroud and brake lever on the left side of the driver instead of the right. Other, less noticeable features include dark Red tail-light lenses, later 1928's and reproduction lenses are lighter red, Early Style rear Ford script bumper clamps, Lug nuts and wheels are different than later models, Dust pans each side of the engine are a different configuration than later cars, Steer-Eye (teflon pieces) in the drag link and tie rod ends. These mate against the ball ends on the sector arm and the spindle balls, new round balls on the spindle arm and sector arm and the parking brake lever on the left. The paint on the car is nearly perfect with no imperfections that we have found. The wood bed and stakes are all new and in fantastic condition. The cloth top is new and in perfect condition. The truck has been modified so the top can be folded down on to two brackets that support it so you don't have to take the top completely off. The glass is in near perfect condition and shows no chips or scratches. No pitting to the stainless around the truck or the front bumper. Inside, the newly finished bench seat looks great with no wear. The same goes for the inside of the convertible top. The dash is painted in the same color as the rest of the truck and looks great. All gauges are in good working order and the steel trim around the gauges shows no major pitting, just some small scratches. Headlights work as well as the horn and lights. There has been an updated alternator installed to replace the original style generator. The car is still on the original 6 volt system that works with no problems. The four cylinder engine has been recently rebuilt and runs great. We have just rebuilt the carb and the little truck starts right up now and runs down the road with no problems. I've had the truck up to 45 miles per hour with no issues. With the low VIN number on the motor, this seems to be a very early Model A. The VIN number is A122510 and the current mileage is 3,374. The truck is being sold on a clean Missouri title.
