Description

The 1936-1942 Buick Series 60 Century had remarkably low production for models other than the conventional four-door sedan and coupes. It appeared in 1936 as part of a whole new line with all-steel "Turret-Top" construction. The Century's traditional combination of light body and big-Buick power was established during this period. Many bare chassis (1936-1939) were fitted with custom coachwork and can thereby qualify as CCCA Classics. The Series 60 Century is one of the best all-around Buicks of the period. This particular car has undergone a frame off restoration and retains all the classic look but with some modern updates to make it a fantastic driver and much more comfortable then the original. With an updated 400 Cu In V8 and 350 automatic transmission, the car is a pleasure to drive and very reliable. There has been a Vintage A/C unit installed which blows cold and works with no problems. The paint on the car is in fantastic condition and shows almost no imperfections. Both front and rear chrome bumpers have a great shine and luster to them with no dents or pitting and have been rechromed. All the trim pieces on the car are equally as nice as the bumpers with no damage. During the restoration the car was completely stripped down to bare metal and then repainted in a early 90's Emerald Green using a base coat / clear coat process. There have been fog lights installed on the front bumper that looks great and work with no problems.Inside, the interior has been completely reupholstered. The seats, door panels and kick panels have all been finished in a matching marine grade vinyl that looks great and shows no wear. The carpet is new as well as the headliner which both look great. There has been an updated AM/FM/CD radio installed with Sony speakers inside which sounds a lot better then the original AM radios that came in these cars! Other upgrades include an updated Grant wood wheel with tilt column, a full set of vintage style gauges and an under dash Vintage Air A/C unit which works great. All lights, blinkers, wipers and horn work with no problems and the car has recently passed a Missouri State Safety Inspection. Under the hood, there is a 400 Cu In V8 small block that has been completely rebuilt. This is connected to a rebuilt 350 automatic transmission that shifts with no problems. This goes back to a 9" Ford rear end with 2.78 gears for comfortable highway cruising. Mechanically the car is very sound and runs down the road with no problems. We have picture documentation of the entire build from bare chassis to finish product. The underside of the car is as solid as the top and shows no rot. The wheels are all new and have a great shine with their chrome finish. They are wrapped with new wide white radial tires that have less then 500 miles on them. Since restoration, this car has 11,598 miles on it since completion in 2002. VIN number is 3184930 and is being sold on a clean Missouri title.
