The first F-Series truck was introduced in 1948, replacing the company's previous car-based pickup line. It was a modern-looking truck with a flat, one-piece windshield and integrated headlights. Options were the "See-Clear" windshield washer (operated by foot plunger), passenger side windshield wiper & sun visor, and passenger side taillight. The F-1 truck was also available with additional chrome and two horns as an option. Design of the F-Series truck changed little from 1948 to 1952. From 1948-1950, the grill was a series of horizontal bars and the headlights were set into the fenders. For 1951 and 1952, the headlights were connected by a wide aerodynamic cross piece with three similarly aerodynamic supports. The rear window was wider in the later trucks and the dashboard was redesigned.This particular 1951 Ford F1 Pick up truck is a great running truck that has gone through a complete frame off restoration. The paint is new and in great condition as is the new wood bed. Both front and rear bumpers have been painted black to match the running boards which all look great and have no major imperfections. The white stripe on the hood and front grill is a great looking touch and makes this truck really stand out. All the glass is in perfect condition with no cracking or chips. Inside, the new black vinyl seat is perfect as well as the door panels, dash and headliner. The interior is finished in the same color as the exterior of the truck which looks great. All the lights work as well as the heater box and blower under the dash. The steering wheel is new and solid with no cracking. The horn is currently inoperable but all other gauges appear to be working with no problems. Under the hood, you will find a 226 Cu In flat head 6 cylinder that runs great. Even after sitting for weeks, the car will crank 2 or 3 times and fire right up every time. Under the hood is nicely detailed and very clean. The transmission and clutch performs with no problems and the truck goes down the road with plenty of power. This is defiantly an around town truck and not something you want to take cross country. There have been brand new wheels and tires installed that look great. The underside of the truck is very solid with no rot that we can see and equally as nice as the top side. This was a frame off restoration on the truck and it shows underneath. There are new brake lines as well as shocks all around the truck.
