Description

The Cadillac Series 62 vehicles are some of the most well known vehicles that Cadillac has ever produced. Many collectors have a great respect for the Series 62 models and they do tend to stand out in the minds of many Cadillac fans. The Series 62 replaced the mid sized Series 70 in 1941 and was produced until 1964. The Series 62 has undergone several name changes including the Series 6200 and the Cadillac Calais names. The first generation of the Cadillac Series 62 was produced from 1941 until 1942 and was offered as a two door club coupe, a four door sedan, and a four door convertible. This generation was powered by a 346 inch L-head V8 engine that provided 135 horsepower the first year and 150 horsepower by the end of the generation. This particular car is one of 1,900 Coupe Deluxe's produced in 1941 with the 126 inch wheelbase. In 1941 there were only a few options that you could get for the car. Of those options, this car comes with fender skirts, AM radio, heater, dual spotlights, fog lights, wheel discs and trim rings. What makes this highly optioned car even more special, is that it is a true, two owner car with documentation. In 1977 the second owner purchased this car and has kept every insurance and state registration receipt since. The car has gone through an older restoration but still retains all of its original body panels which are very solid with no spots of filler that we have detected. The paint on the car is in very good condition with only a few minor imperfections. The most major of these is a small spot to the passenger side rear fender where there is a small dent (see photos) and some paint peeling off of the front of the passenger side door from the hood being slightly misaligned. If not closed properly, the passenger side door will rub against the hood when opened. The trim is in good overall shape but does show some pitting. Both front and rear bumpers are in very good condition with no pitting and a very good shine. Inside, the car still retains most of its original look. The wood grain dash is in excellent condition and shows no signs of damage or cracking. All the trim around the gauges and radio looks great but there is some cracking as you can see to the original steering wheel. The carpet has been replaced some time ago but is still in good condition. Both front and rear seats have been recovered and are in great condition. The door panels are equally as nice as is the headliner which is all finished in matching fabric. Under the hood, the flathead V8 runs great and is very smooth. Connected to the three speed manual transmission, the car has a smooth power band that will get this car up to highway cruising speeds with no problem. The motor is said to be the original for the car but we are not positive if the 51,000 miles are actual or have been rolled over. The underside of the car is in great condition and is very solid. The floors are good as well as the frame with no major undercoating to be found. The trunk contains a full size spare as well as a jack. The car is being sold on a State of Indiana title that is dated March of 1977, when the previous owner purchased it. VIN number is 5632690.
