Description

The Luxxor was the culmination of many years experience of coach building and the passion of Mr. Ron Sparks of San Marcos, California. Ron Sparks had been involved with hand built custom car in the southern California area for more then a year when he met Mr. Alain Clenet in 1975. Sparks worked with Clenet in producing some of the first clenet cars to be sold. After a short time Mr. Sparks became frustrated with the lack of quality control and started his own company and built the Sparks roadster and the Sparks Phaeton Dual cowl limo. The dual cowl limo had all of the fine appointments like Connolly leather, diamond jeweled clocks, car phone with an intercom for the driver to talk to the passenger, Hand rubbed walnut dash and a list that goes on and on. Ron Sparks decided to produce a neo-classic that could be afforded by the middle class worker on his way up that wanted to make a statement. Hence came the Spartan. Ron used the Nissan 280z as the platform for his creation that he would later call the Spartan. The Spartan was one of the most successful neo-classic ever built. Ron Sparks built approximately 350 Spartans & Spartan II, the Spartan II was built on the Nissan 300zx chassis. Initially all Spartans were sold through Nissan (then Datsun) Dealerships. The Spartan was very popular with the entertainment business in nearby Hollywood, Actress Joan Collins and comedian Eddie Murphy as well as one of the Dallas Cowboys, all owned and enjoyed the Spartan. Through a series of personal problems....Divorce.... the Spartan faded away. The Dallas Cowboy that owned one of these Spartans was Tony Dorsett and this was his car. Made specifically for Mr. Dorsett, this car was finished in the Dallas Cowboy's colors of silver and blue. The paint on the car is not perfect and does show some cracking and bubbling. The majority of it is in the blue. Both front and rear steel bumpers are in good condition with no notable damage to either. Inside, the interior is stock 280Z and is finished in its original colors of silver and blue. This was originally a 2+2 car so the interior does have back seats that are both in good condition. The front seats show no major wear as do the carpet and headliner which are all in good condition. The dash does have some cracking which is minor. All gauges appear to be in good working order as well as the lights, blinkers, horn, wipers and radio. The A/C still blows and works with no problems. The original AM/FM radio has been replaced with an updated CD/Radio that works with no problems. Under the hood, the stock 2.8 Liter 6 cylinder runs great with plenty of power. Remember that this is still an 18,000 original mile 280ZX! The engine runs great and has tons of power that these Z's were known for. These cars are also VERY reliable. On the road the car drives with no problems. The underside is solid with no rot that we have found. The current mileage shows 18,264 and the VIN number is HGS130150749. The car is titled as a 1983 Spartan.
