First available in 1947, these trucks were sold with various minor changes over the years until 1955 when Task Force Series trucks replaced this model. From '47-'55, Chevrolet trucks were No. 1 in sales in the U.S. While GMC used this front end on all of its trucks except for the Cab Overs, there are three main sizes of this truck-the half-ton (3100), the three-quarter ton (3600) and the full ton (3800) in short and long wheelbase. Major upgrades in 1950 included telescopic shock absorbers replacing lever-action type. It was the last year for a driver's side cowl vent. Its handle was now flat steel, not a maroon knob as in previous years.This Advance Design truck you see pictured is in great condition, and the hand crank winch is the highlight of this restoration and modification. The winch is painted silver and is a Beebe Brothers all-steel two-ton hand winch manufactured in Seattle. The bed has been relined with durable wood.The exterior paint is the correct Seacrest Green and has benefitted from a quality repaint.
