Description

Motoexotica is offering another rare, fully restored Suburban. This 1948 has gone through a complete, body off restoration to make it what you see today. This particular truck has been lowered and given a Camaro front end to ride on. With a power disc brake front end, power steering, tilt column and vintage A/C this truck is ready for the road. Introduced back in 1936, the Chevrolet Suburban was based on a commercial panel truck, but instead of having a huge, windowless cargo area there was a large passenger compartment. Basically truck-based station wagons, the early Suburbans had two doors (not counting the two-piece tailgate) and three rows of seats that seated up to eight passengers. For 1946 Chevrolet simply picked up where it left off, and as a result the 1946 models were virtually the same as the 1942s. The 1947 Suburban received a restyled body with flush-mounted headlights and a more broad-shouldered stance with a wider grille and passenger compartment. This basic theme continued through 1953. In 2006 the Chevrolet HHR was introduced that took a lot of its styling from the '48 Suburban. This particular truck has been custom painted a beautiful shade of Burgundy with a white top. There has been custom pin striping applied through out the truck which really sets it off. The body is extremely solid with no rot that we have found or major spots of repair. This appears to of started out from a very straight and solid body. The windows have been tinted all around to keep this truck cool in the summer and looking cool all year around. The chrome front grill and bumper looks great and both appear to be new. All the steel trim is equally as nice going around the truck. Inside, the entire interior has been newly reupholstered and looks nearly perfect. The seats have been recovered in the same colors as the exterior of the truck. The burgundy and white color theme continues with the door panels and dash. The headliner is finished in a white vinyl that looks great. Seats, carpet, headliner and door panels all show almost no wear. The steering column is tilt and all lights, blinkers, wipers and horn work with no problems. There has been an aftermarket A/C unit installed on the truck that does blow cool. Under the hood, there is a 350 Cu In V8 that has been completely rebuilt. It's connected to a 700 R4 automatic transmission that performs with no issues. The V8 starts up with a turn of the key and runs down the road with no problems. The rear end is out of a Nova and has 3.08 gears to make this truck enjoyable and easy on the pocket on the highway. Stopping is easy with power disc brakes on the front and drums on the rear. The underside of the truck is very solid. The current mileage shows only 13 miles and the VIN number is 7988518FPL11728. The truck is being sold on a Florida title and has been with the same owner since 2005. The title shows the owner before had the car also in Florida since 1991.
